Composition and active ingredient of the drug

Antiparasitic drops "Inspector" for cats contain 2 active components - fipronil and moxidectin. Polyethylene glycol (PEG 400) is used as a hydrophilic base. The composition contains preservatives butylated hydroxyanisole and butylated hydroxytoluene, as well as diethylene glycol monoethyl ether, which promotes the penetration of active substances through the skin deep into the tissues.

  • Fipronil is a broad-spectrum insecticide of the phenylpyrazoles group, modern pesticides effective against parasites resistant to other classes of drugs. It is used to kill many pests - cockroaches, ants, beetles, termites. It is also effective against bloodsuckers - fleas, ticks and lice eaters.
  • Moxidectin is a semisynthetic substance of the milbemycin group. It is destructive to nematodes and arthropod parasites.

General information

Inspector drops are manufactured in Russia; the manufacturer is the Ecoprom company.

The drug is intended for external use only. Available in the form of a solution, which is a light yellowish or colorless oily liquid, which is packaged in polymer pipettes of 0.4; 1; 2.5; 4 ml. These pipettes are packaged in polymer blisters, which are placed in cardboard boxes along with instructions.

“Inspector” - drops must be stored in the manufacturer’s packaging in a dark, dry place, away from feed and food, at a temperature of - 0°C - 30°C. After opening the package, the drops must be used immediately; storing them open is unacceptable. The drug remains valid for 3 years from the date of production.

Dosage

Calculating the dose of the drug to be applied is important; you need to take into account the weight of the cat. If it is a large cat, its weight exceeds 8 kg, then you need to take 0.1 ml per 1 kg of weight. You can combine pipettes to obtain the required amount of solution.

The drug is packaged for cats less than 4 kg, the nominal dose in a pipette is 0.4 ml. For cats from 4 to 8 kg, the dose in the pipette will be 0.8 ml.

If there is a need to treat a cat for helminths and diseases weighing less than 1 kg, then take a drop (0.05 ml) per half a kilo of the animal’s weight.

The principle of action of the medicine

Due to the content of 2 active components at once, the drug has a combined effect. Fipronil is distributed throughout the skin and coat of cats, accumulates in the epidermis, hair follicles and ducts of the sebaceous glands. Upon contact with a bloodsucker, it blocks the passage of a nerve impulse in its body, disrupting the functioning of the central nervous system, leading to paralysis and death.

Moxidectin enters the bloodstream through the skin and, having a neurotoxic effect, paralyzes ectoparasites and worms, which no longer adhere to the intestinal walls and are excreted in the feces. It is almost completely excreted in feces and, if the dosage is observed, does not have a toxic effect. The active substances remain in the body for a long time, which provides long-term protection: from ticks - up to 4 weeks, from fleas and lice - up to 6.

Analogues of the Inspector

Similar products can replace Inspector drops in the fight against various parasites:

Advocate

Drops are packaged in pipettes with a volume of 0.4 ml for cats with a body weight not exceeding 4 kg, with a dosage of 0.8 ml for pets weighing from 4 to 8 kg. Dosage for large breed cats is calculated by combining.

The pipettes are in a blister; you can immediately buy 3, 4 or 6 pieces per package.

Stronghold

A well-proven remedy against fleas, ticks, entoparasites, as well as dirofilariasis. The pipettes have caps of different colors so as not to be mistaken in marking the weight of the animal.

  • a purple cap is purchased for cats weighing less than 2.5 kg;
  • blue cap for cats 2.5-7.5 kg;
  • A brown-gray cap is needed for cats weighing over 7.5 kg.

If the fluffball weighs more than 10 kg, you will have to combine pipettes of different colors.

Frontline

This drug is for the high-quality destruction of eggs and larvae of ectoparasites and entoparasites. The treatment also helps relieve itching after an insect bite, and at the same time supports resistance to flea dermatitis.

Frontline acts quickly, and another advantage of the drug is its resistance to a humid environment: the cat can be bathed 2 days after treatment.

Indications for use

Inspector drops are used for the following diseases:

  • Intestinal nematodes , the causative agents of which are roundworms (toxocara, toxascarid, hookworm, hookworm Uncinaria stenocephala) - toxocariasis, toxascariasis, hookworm, uncinariasis.
  • Otodectosis (ear scabies). It is caused by the sarcoptic mite otodectes cynotis, which parasitizes on the surface of the ears and is capable of penetrating deep into the ear.
  • Sarcoptic mange. The causative agent is a tick mite of the genus Sarcoptes. It parasitizes the epidermal layer of the skin, creating numerous passages in it. The disease is accompanied by unbearable itching.
  • Entomosis. The term unites a large group of diseases that are caused by temporary (bugs, mosquitoes) and permanent (fleas, lice eaters, ticks) parasites of animals.
  • Notoedrosis. The culprit of the disease is the subcutaneous mite notoedres cati, which parasitizes under the epidermis, causing inflammation of the deep layers of the skin.
  • Demodecosis. The causative agent of the disease is the demodex mite. It lives in the hair follicles and sebaceous glands of most animals permanently. When the immune system is weakened, it begins to actively multiply, causing redness of the skin, itching and hair loss.
  • Acarosis. The disease is caused by intradermal parasites and is accompanied by inflammation and skin itching, therefore it is also called pruritic scabies.

The drug is used not only for medicinal but also for preventive purposes; in particular, it can prevent the development of dirofilariasis. This disease is caused by the helminth dirofilaria immitis, its main carriers are mosquitoes and mosquitoes.

How to use correctly

The pipette containing the product is packaged in a separate cardboard box and must be sold together with instructions for use. As a preventive measure, drops against fleas and worms should be used no more than once a month. A single application is sufficient for treatment.

Instructions for using drops Inspector for cats:

  1. Remove the pipettes from the carton.
  2. Cut off the nose.
  3. Find a place on the cat's body from which she cannot lick the substance.
  4. Spread the fur. At the site of application of the drug, the skin should be dry and without damage.
  5. Apply drops to the Inspector's withers so that the liquid does not spread. Treatment is carried out only when the cat is completely healthy.
  6. The animal cannot be bathed for the next 4 days.

Instructions for using the inspector

Inspector for cats can be purchased not only as an antiparasitic treatment, but also as a preventive and effective measure if:

  • the cat has been in contact with infected pets;
  • the animal has visited places where it is not surprising to pick up parasites and insects of various types;
  • the product was recommended by a veterinarian;
  • parasites were found.

When treating chronic diseases such as notoedrosis, Inspector Total K will be prescribed by a veterinarian.

It is better to follow the advice of specialists, then treatment with the drug will be successful. Here's what you need to do sequentially:

  1. Do not neglect the instructions, everything is described there in detail. It is better to directly make sure that there is no direct contraindication that would prohibit the use of Flea and Tick Inspector for cats.
  2. If point one does not reveal any complications, then you can begin examining your pet. There should be no bodily harm, whether it be wounds or scratching: drops should not be applied to such places.
  3. After making sure that the animal’s body does not have wounds, you can apply the drops to places where the cat cannot try to lick them off. Usually they use the withers, the area between the shoulder blades, and apply drops in 3-4 places.

The wool must be dry! If droplets are applied to kittens or small cats, then choose one place on the body. A large pet can be treated along the spine

Correct application to the withers dictates that the coat should be spread to the sides, exposing the skin. This applies most of all to long-haired breeds: this way the composition will reach the skin in a short time and immediately begin its effect.

To treat cats whose weight has not reached 1 kg, a pregnant or lactating pet will require consultation and supervision of a veterinarian.

If your cat is worried:

  • ixodid tick;
  • fleas;
  • lice;
  • lice eaters,

then a one-time treatment is needed. If re-infection is real, you will have to drip the “Inspector” product once every 5-6 weeks during the dangerous season.

Once a quarter, the drug is used if the cat is being treated for allergic dermatitis caused by fleas.

Ear scabies or otodectosis are treated with a single dose, only the ear canal is cleaned first. If necessary, the drops are applied again after a month.

global $ads_google; //data-ad-slot=”2475549904″ $ads_google = empty($ads_google) ? false : true; ?> if ($ads_google == false) {?>

$ads_google = true; ?> } ?>

Sarcoptic mange is eliminated by two-time use, demodicosis by 2-4 times (interval of at least 28 days). Preventive appointment once a month.

If you live in an area unfavorable for the incidence of dirofilariasis, you need to carry out prevention in the warm season, once a month with a single dose. The last application should be made a month after the end of active insect activity. The Inspector product will not destroy sexually mature heartworms, but will sharply reduce the number of microfilariae.

How many times should I use the drug?

To rid an animal of parasites, it is enough to apply the drops just once. However, if you want to prevent re-infection, then treatment should be carried out every 4-6 weeks during the entire period of activity of blood-sucking parasites.

The drug begins to act after 24 hours. Therefore, if you decide to walk your animal in places where there is a large concentration of ticks, then the treatment should be carried out a day before the planned walk.

To destroy an attached tick, you need to apply 1 drop of the drug to the parasite itself and the place to which it has attached. It should fall off within 20 minutes. If this does not happen, then after the specified time has passed, carefully remove the tick using tweezers and destroy it.

Pharmacological properties

The unique combination of moxidectin and fipronil in Inspector Total K drops provides a wide spectrum of action against ixoid, sarcoptic, demodectic, scabies mites, lice (lice mites), and fleas. The veterinary drug is used for the treatment and prevention of helminthiases caused by tape, flat, and round intestinal parasites. Kills endoparasites at all stages of their development (larval forms, mature worms).

Fipronil belongs to the group of phenylpyrazole compounds. The mechanism of action is to block the passage of chlorine ions into the cell membranes of parasitic arthropod insects, disrupting neuromuscular impulses, which leads to the instant death of ticks, fleas, and lice.

Moxidoxin is a semi-synthetic substance from the milbemycin group. Stimulates the production of gamma-aminobutyric acid, binds to postsynaptic receptors, disrupts muscle innervation. Paralysis of muscle structures leads to the death of ectoparasites and intestinal worms.

The inspector destroys fleas, ticks, lice, and provides protection against re-infestation

After the treatment, fipronil, practically without being absorbed, is evenly distributed over the surface of the animal’s body and is retained on the epidermis and coat. It has a prolonged contact insectoacaricidal effect.

Moxidoxin is absorbed into the gastrointestinal tract and spreads through the bloodstream to organs and tissues, sites of localization of internal parasites. It is excreted unchanged from the body of cats, mainly in feces.

The insecticidal effect after treatment lasts for five to six weeks, the acaricidal effect for 28-30 days. The maximum effect occurs 12-24 hours after treatment.

The inspector not only gets rid of ecto- and endoparasites, but also prevents re-infection, even if the pet is in close contact with infected animals. Can be used no more than once a month!

Feedback from cat owners about the drug

Inga, Kursk. This is not the first time I have used Inspector for my cat. And even though we have him at home, he doesn’t go outside, so he has nowhere to catch ticks. But I like the drug because it is both against fleas and worms. Previously, I had to fight to push the pills in. But here it’s convenient, everyone gets it right at the same time.

Antonina, Orekhovo-Zuevo. I have several cats. We live in a private house, so cats walk outside. I used different anti-parasite remedies before. After the advice of a veterinarian, Inspector began using drops. This turned out to be very convenient, because... One application can affect all types of parasites. I know from the instructions that there may be allergies, but my cats tolerate it well. And the effect is consistent, I do not observe any pests on animals after the treatments.

Side effects

Usually the drug is well tolerated. If the dosage is correct, there will be no negative reactions. But these manifestations quickly disappear. But if a cat is prone to allergies, then “Inspector” can cause an appropriate reaction in it.

In order to get rid of the latter, the product is washed off and the pet takes antihistamines.

But this rarely happens. Side effects include the following:

  • weakness;
  • loss of appetite;
  • increased salivation;
  • apathy;
  • vomiting and nausea;
  • photophobia;
  • itching and skin rashes.

Such symptoms disappear within a maximum of 2 days. If the animal's condition sharply worsens, you need to thoroughly wash it with shampoo and contact a veterinary clinic.

It is best to contact a veterinarian before treatment . The specialist will evaluate the individual characteristics of the pet and give the right recommendations.

Storage of the drug

Drops are stored in a dry and inaccessible place . They are protected from direct sunlight. The shelf life without loss of their properties is about three years.

If you notice that your cat is constantly itching and small red dots appear on your legs, your pet is most likely infected and also needs immediate help.
