I currently have 19 cats living at home. All of them were taken from the street, I am a volunteer and help the cats as best I can. We tried a lot of food, from premium to holistic. Of course, I was looking for good food, but at an affordable price. We've tried Summit food before, but I was looking for something better, but I just couldn't find it! As a result, we returned to Summit again and I can say that this is the best food we have tried. I only take large packages of 6.8 kg. It makes no sense for me to take less. Cats eat this package within a week. The food smells very nice. It has the best smell of all the foods. My cats are doing great on Summit food. This is probably the food on which cats feel best. The stool is good, although many have problems with the gastrointestinal tract. No one vomits, the fur immediately becomes better, shiny, soft. The eyes are not watery, the cats are cheerful and cheerful. It feels like the food is high quality! Another advantage I can highlight is the fact that the food contains a low percentage of fat - only 11%. The food is suitable for all cats, neutered or not, and kittens too. Some of my kittens grew up beautifully on it and didn’t become skinny! So the food is excellent, buy it and you won’t regret it!

Summit Holistic Original 3 Meat: more cons than pros

Studying the first five ingredients, we immediately saw a discrepancy: component No. 1 was translated into Russian as “dehydrated chicken meat,” although in reality it is chicken meal - chicken flour. Its dosage in the Summit Holistic Original diet (3 types of meat) is not indicated. Interestingly, the English description we tend to trust does not include the word “meat”. Thus, such a translation is a marketing ploy - it makes the first component of the feed more attractive.

The following components of the top five completely disappointed us: whole brown rice with oatmeal, potatoes, and even peas - they are all sources of vegetable protein and carbohydrates. Note that grains, vegetables and legumes are completely atypical for cat nutrition and are certainly not recommended for them in such quantities.

But we were pleased that Summit Holistic Original for cats contains high-quality animal fats. The characteristics of both chicken fat and salmon fat (which for some reason was translated into Russian as “fish oil”, clearly worsening the impression of the ingredient) are the highest.

Compound

1. Meat: chicken (shredded), salmon (dried pieces), turkey (dried pieces).
2. Chicken fat, salmon oil (flavoring).
3. Rice (unpeeled), potatoes, oatmeal.
4. Vegetables, fruits, berries and healthy plants: dried rosemary, Yucca Schidigera extract, dried chicory root.
5. Vitamins and other components: yeast extract, L-carnitine, taurine, DL-methionine, sodium selenite, ferrous sulfate, manganese oxide, copper sulfate, calcium iodate, zinc oxide, manganese proteinate, iron proteinate, copper proteinate, zinc proteinate, food additive vitamins E, A, D, B12, biotin, pyridoxine hydrochloride, beta-carotene, folic acid, calcium D-pantothenate, riboflavin, thiamine mononitrate, L-ascorbyl-2-polyphosphate, phosphoric acid, sodium chloride, choline chloride, potassium chloride) .
6. A mixture of tocopherols is added as preservatives.

Three types of meat meal were used in the feed mixture: chicken, salmon, and turkey.

The second position is occupied by brown rice, not freed from films. The food contains many plant components - peas, oatmeal, potatoes. This may be why some commentators classify the product not as a holistic product, but as a super-premium food.

The following lists the minerals and vitamins added to the feed mixture. The inclusion of trace elements in chelate (organometallic) compounds is a positive fact. The digestibility of both mineral and organic components increases significantly.

Methionine and taurine are essential amino acids. They were added to meet the needs of kittens. A slight excess of the norm for adult animals does not adversely affect health.

Chicory root, as well as yeast extract, contain prebiotics - polysaccharides that are available for absorption only by the beneficial microflora of the large intestine. Yucca is a natural feces deodorant. Rosemary is a natural antioxidant. L-carnitine promotes the rapid extraction of energy from fats.
