The brand name can be translated from Italian as “life-giving nature” (almo Italian - “gracious”, “life-giving”, nature English - “nature”). Almo Nature food is produced not only in Italy, but also at production sites in Uruguay, Thailand, France, Austria and the UK. In addition to dry food, Almo Nature's assortment includes canned food and pouches, as well as treats for cats and even litter for trays.

Almo Nature's philosophy is to combine dry and wet food (60% to 40%) in the nutrition of cats and dogs. According to Almo Nature experts, this is the only way to achieve the most complete balance of nutrients in an animal’s diet.

Dry cat food Almo Nature Holistic is produced in Italy by Almo Nature SpA Official website - (no Russian language support), however, there is no information about all formulas, only for some the exact compositions are indicated.
Despite the inscription “holistic” on the packaging, it is difficult to classify this food not only as holistic, but also as super premium. After all, in terms of composition it is at most premium class. The Almo Nature brand also produces dog food.

The first ingredient, “meat and its derivatives (including 14% fresh turkey),” is a source of protein. How much meat there is, and how much of its derivatives and what kind of “derivatives” they are is not known, as is the total percentage of this ingredient.

Further in the composition there is also “vegetable protein extract” and judging by the fact that it comes before the ingredient “oils and fats”, it is at least 10% in the food. But there are also proteins in cereals. Simply put, a significant part (about half) of the 30% of protein indicated in the analysis is plant-based.

The source of carbohydrates is the ingredient “cereals”, which includes 14% of rice. What other cereals it includes is not specified, nor what their total percentage is. Oils and fats are sources of fatty acids. Again, it is not specified what exactly these oils and fats are.

Minerals - supplement of minerals. FOS, mannan-oligosaccharides - useful supplements, probiotics.

Advantages and disadvantages

The advantages of the food include:

• good vitamin and mineral supplement;
• Widely distributed and available in most pet stores.

Disadvantages of Almo Nature food:

• general names of ingredients, it is not clear what is hidden behind them;
• a significant part of the protein is vegetable (less digestible);
• high price (many feeds with significantly better composition are cheaper).

The official website states that no synthetic preservatives are used in the food. However, there is no information about this in the composition.

Almo Nature offers a wide range of food, including dry and wet foods, canned food, treats, and also litter for toilets (but this is not the topic of this article). The company does not produce therapeutic products, only preventive ones.

Dry food

Let's look at the main lines of dry diets:

• Orange Label - intended for sterilized animals. It is given in combination with wet in a ratio of 140 grams wet and 35 grams dry. The diet is designed for an animal weighing 4 kg. The product is available in 5 flavor combinations: turkey, chicken, beef, rabbit, sardine.

• Holistic - includes products from farms where meat and poultry are raised for human nutrition. The line includes 4 flavors in combination with brown rice: beef, turkey, fish, chicken. The release includes a separate type of product for kittens with chicken flavor.

• Functional line - refers to preventive products and is divided into two types: for sterilized cats (Sterilized) and for removing hairballs from the intestines (Anti Hairboll). This diet is recommended to be combined based on the proportion of 110 grams wet and 35 grams dry per 4 kg of weight. Each category has several different flavors: chicken and rice, fish and potatoes - Anti Hairboll; salmon and veal with rice - Sterilized.

• Alternative - this line includes products suitable for use in the human diet and is represented by 3 combinations, including rice with chicken, sturgeon or salmon.

Composition of dry food

Within each line, the differences in components are minimal, so when considering, we will choose one of the diets as an example. It is especially worth noting that the complex of vitamin and mineral supplements in all dry diets is extremely rich: it includes A, D3, E, B1, B2, B6, B12, C, folic acid, which is important for the proper development of offspring, zinc, calcium, magnesium, selenium, copper sulfates and other components.

This set is also good for humans, but the origin of the ingredients is unknown, whether they are obtained synthetically or extracted from natural products.

Almo Nature's wet food, canned food and spiders for cats vary greatly in composition. There are those that can easily be classified as holistic; they have fresh meat, broth, a little rice or vegetables. But there are also lines, for example, Daily Menu, which are more reminiscent of economy, they contain cereals and other unknown ingredients of plant origin.

• Green Label is a universal diet made from products suitable for human consumption. Feed packaging allows you to preserve a maximum of useful components, since the contents undergo heat treatment after packaging. The line is represented by a variety of flavors (10 different compositions), mostly fish or chicken spiders. Among the ingredients are tuna, sardines, shrimp, mackerel, ham, chicken, and duck.

• Orange Label is the basis of a combined diet, including dry food from the line of the same name. The product is universal, suitable for animals of different age groups. Available in 70 g pouches with fish, meat and vegetable flavors (8 different mixtures and monofeeds). The main ingredients are fish (tuna, sardine, mackerel), there are several variations of beef and chicken with vegetables. The composition of feed varies, details are given in the next section.

• Azul Label is a super premium product, available in 4 flavors, produced in 70 g bags. The food is based on chicken meat with additives of various types of fish.

• Classic - designed for animals that refuse to drink enough water. The product contains a high content of meat or fish broth, approximately 50%. The line includes 10 different flavor combinations, including more fish and several chicken mixtures.

• Legend - canned food made from natural meat and fish includes everything you need, and is available in 9 flavors. Chicken and fish mixes with a small addition of vegetables were approximately evenly distributed among them. There are separate products for kittens and older cats based on poultry meat.

• Daily Menu - pates Without GMOs and chemical components, but their composition is not very good, see the next section for details. There are 6 common flavor blends on sale, including veal, turkey, chicken, beef, lamb, tuna combined with vegetable components.

• Functional Line is a special line of wet food designed for combined nutrition. Combined with the release of a dry diet of the same name. Full composition: meat and its derivatives (fresh turkey 14%), cereals (rice 14%), vegetable protein extract, oils and fats, minerals, plant derivatives (chicory inulin - source of FOS-0.1%), mannan-oligosaccharides. There are also nutritional supplements that list many vitamins.

My cat eats this food with pleasure and doesn’t leave any crackers in the bowl. The stool did not deteriorate, although I did not mix it with the old food (it had run out) as is recommended to do when changing food. In total, the cat has been eating Almo Nature for more than two weeks, everything is fine. So, to summarize, I recommend this food.

The first food I bought for my kitten was Applaws holistic. The composition was excellent, the price was very good, and the kitten ate well at first. But over time, apparently, he became boring, the baby stopped eating his daily allowance. So I decided to try something different and chose Almo Nature Holistic Kitten Chicken & Rice.

The food granules are small, but not so small that the baby swallows without chewing. In general, the size is just right for kittens. The granules are light brown, oily, homogeneous. I wouldn’t call the smell pleasant, but all cat food smells like that.

I took a 2 kg package, it is covered with foil inside and has a zip fastener. The price of such packaging at the time of purchase is 1075 rubles. Now I've already eaten almost half of it. Conclusions about Almo Nature food

There are both positive and not so positive reviews about Almo Nature dry cat food. The PetObzor website will not recommend it as the main diet for your pets due to the unknown quality of the composition.

As for canned food of this brand, their composition looks much better, as does the composition of the new “Almo Nature Alternative” line. We will make a separate review about the latter.

To date, the product has been little studied; we can only rely on the labels on the packaging. There are no negative comments in reviews of cat food, except that there is no clear understanding of the origin of the components. Veterinarians in clinics do not praise or scold Almo; one gets the impression that they don’t know about him yet. Owners using this diet report normal animal development, good appetite and activity.

The Almo Nature assortment for cats includes dry food, canned food and treats. The composition of each product varies. The concept of the company's work evokes conflicting feelings; the fact is that the manufacturer refused to test the products on animals. As a result, quality control was carried out on a voluntary basis by animal owners who entered into a contract with the brand. Judging by the ingredients, Almo Nature dry food is not holistic. It is difficult to include them in the super-premium category; it is more likely the middle class, i.e. premium The manufacturer explained the big name holistic and super premium by the fact that the diet must be combined in a ratio of 6:4, where the first value is wet food, and the second is dry food. According to him, in this way it is possible to reduce the load on the animal’s kidneys and ensure a long and happy life. Canned food contains up to 30% meat broth, which replenishes the lack of fluid in the cat’s body. If this is indeed the case, then the product can be recommended to owners whose pets refuse to drink water. But no laboratory studies were carried out and information about the health status of the tested animals was also not provided.

In addition, experienced breeders categorically do not recommend combining dry and wet ready-made food. The latter can rather be used occasionally as a treat.

Advantages and disadvantages

Each brand that produces pet food has its own advantages and disadvantages. Let's look at the positive characteristics of Almo Nature feed:

• clear distribution of rulers by packaging color, which is convenient for selection;
• a rich assortment that most fully reveals the needs of animals of different age categories;
• a clearly defined complex of minerals and vitamins included in the feed;
• Availability in any pet stores, without restrictions;
• absence of chemical components, dyes, thickeners;
• minimized processing during cooking, keeping biological components unchanged;
• quality control of the product and raw materials;
• absence of allergic reactions even in capricious breeds;
• Each batch of product has a serial number so that information can be retrieved when needed.

Disadvantages of this food:

• there is no opportunity to study the composition of the nutritional part, while the vitamin part is presented perfectly;
• some components are specified too generally;
• proteins are mostly of plant origin, such ingredients are poorly digestible by cats (we are talking about dry food and some wet food, there are types of canned food of generally good quality, which do not contain a lot of grains, details in the review of compositions);
• the translation on the packages does not correspond to the original, which raises doubts among the buyer;
• The 6:4 scheme for taking dry and wet food is not approved by all veterinarians and felinologists.

The cost of Almo Nature dry food is 900-1200 rubles per kilogram, depending on the line and packaging volume. The most profitable bags are 12 kg.
