Canned food Mnyams for cats with chicken and ham in soft jelly (70g)

Range

There are several feed options:

Canned food. They are produced in small jars (70 g each) and are complete nutrition. The basis is either chicken or tuna, with vegetables. According to the manufacturer, the fish used is fresh and the canned food is produced directly in Thailand.

Wet spiders. Place of manufacture: Liechtenstein. Packaging weight: 100 g. 6 flavor variations. Suitable for both kittens and adult cats.

The “Delicacy” line is represented by two types of food: wet delicacies and tasty sticks. Delicacies are produced in the form of fillet pieces and mousses.

“Cat Fedor” includes both wet food (in packs of 100 g) and dry granules (50 g per pack). There are 3 developed variations: “Fish Festival”, “Hunter’s Feast”, “Meat Carnival”.

The line with the sonorous name “High Cuisine Dishes” offers pet owners both dry and wet food for cats of all ages. And the names are one more tempting than the other: “Beef Stroganoff in Tasmanian style,” “Bouillabaisse in Marseille,” “Ossobuco in Milanese”!

The treats stand out: tasty sticks, pads, drops. They contain vitamins and minerals necessary for the cat’s body, and other useful additives.

Vague description of ingredients

This food looks like identical small pieces in sauce. It should be clearly understood that this is not sliced meat. The pieces are formed in a special way from a mixture of ingredients and then filled with sauce.

Slogan: “You'll lick your paws!” sounds very attractive on the label. It is quite possible that the diet really has an attractive taste for cats, but we urge you to pay attention to the actual components of the Mnyams food - we will devote this review to them.

The manufacturer indicates that this is a complete food for adult cats with sensitive digestion. This characteristic certainly suggests that the raw materials for the food were also carefully selected, taking into account the needs of cats with delicate stomachs and intestines.

Unfortunately, when studying the composition, we had to doubt this. We, of course, left the words about sensitive digestion in the product description on the website, since they are printed on the label, but one can only guess about the quality of the raw materials, there are too few details.

Compound

As part of the food, “Mnyamsya” can use both meat (chicken, rabbit, veal, pork, duck, ostrich and lamb), and fish fillet, mussels, eggs, cheese powder.

Useful additives: vitamin E and D3, zinc, taurine, manganese, Yucca Schidigera, oils and fats, sugar beet pulp, wheat germ, yeast.

Only approved thickeners and gelling agents and natural dyes are used in the feed.

Mineral and other supplements

Since the mineral balancing premix is indicated further in the composition list, the evaluation of Mnyams food with rabbit will be based on the first three components. The composition of the sauce, as in most similar canned foods, is not clear - most likely, it was obtained from the raw materials indicated in the list of ingredients.

Manufacturers can color the sauce a nice beige color using caramelized sugar—perhaps the “sugar” ingredient here refers to just that. In fact, “sugar” is a technological additive that is completely unnecessary in a cat’s diet. We classify this component as undesirable and are forced to fine this product 5 points.

We included a couple of vitamin and mineral supplements included in this product on the card after the main list of ingredients. On the back there is a note that the food is made without the addition of artificial colors and preservatives - this is a positive point.

Advantages and disadvantages

  • offers customers several types of both dry and wet food, as well as treats (liquid and solid).
  • An independent examination showed that Mnyams food does not contain heavy metal salts that are dangerous to cats, pathogenic microorganisms (fungi, bacteria) and traces of any medications.
  • There are no preservatives in the composition, which means that your pet receives the freshest possible food for his table.
  • The composition is as balanced as possible: Mnyams food contains a sufficient amount of protein, fats, carbohydrates and healthy components. So the basic needs of the cat's body will be satisfied.
  • A rich palette of flavors helps you choose a treat to suit every taste. Scallop cream mousse, lamb with rice, ostrich fillet, chicken fillet with berries - any pet, even the most capricious, will be happy.
  • The food lasts its entire shelf life and does not change its taste for the worse (of course, subject to storage rules).
  • The Mnyams line of food is divided into age groups: for kittens, adults and older cats.
  • An independent examination showed that the actual protein level does not correspond to the declared level.
  • During the research, pesticides were also identified, albeit in small quantities. It can be assumed that they enter the feed with plant materials, which, in turn, are treated with special preparations to protect against pests. Pesticides are also harmful to people, let alone cats! Owners of animals with stomach problems should pay special attention to this.
  • There are no medicinal foods in the Mnyams food line.
  • The selection of Mnyams food in stores is scarce. Many have to be ordered online.
  • The price tag for the product is quite high.

Reviews from veterinarians

Galina, Moscow

“I recommend Mnyams to all cat owners I know. In the range of food of this brand you can find one that is suitable for a two-month baby and an elderly cat. Even if your pet is a picky person who doesn’t want to eat the same food two days in a row, among the Mnyams products there will certainly be something that will suit his taste.”

Evgeniy, Yaroslavl

“Mnyams food is suitable for almost all cats of any age. Its composition is perfectly balanced. An animal that eats this food will remain in excellent health and lively disposition until old age. In addition, Mnyams contains taurine, which is responsible for visual acuity and the functioning of the heart muscle. I recommend everyone to try this food!”

Alexander, St. Petersburg

“Before you offer your cat Mnyams dry food, check if her teeth are strong. The sticks of this food are too dense for the teeth of some animals; they can chew it with great difficulty. They may not be suitable for small kittens and older cats.”

Manufacturer

Mnyams dry cat food is produced by Landguth (Germany) and Pro Pet (Austria). The same enterprises produce delicacies, as well as canned food and pouches flavored with meat and poultry. Fish feed production is located in Thailand. They are made from fresh seafood. To make cat food, the manufacturer does not use frozen meat and fish, or soy products. This ensures a high quality product. This food is supplied to Russia.

Treats

The Mnyams brand produces a variety of treats for cats:

  1. Traditional delicacies. They are produced in the form of sticks and pieces based on animal meat, poultry and fish.
  2. Moist creamy treat. It contains chicken, tuna and scallop.
  3. Vitamin treats. This product is designed to strengthen the body, remove hair and prevent diseases. Treats with vitamins and microelements are produced in the form of drops and crispy pillows.

Treats are not intended for constant nutrition. Their share in the diet should be no more than 10%. Sticks, cream and pads can be added to dry food, canned food and pouches.

Class

The manufacturer states that Mnyams cat food belongs to the super premium class. This means that the product contains a sufficient amount of natural meat. It contains only very high quality by-products. The food contains no artificial additives, soy, ground bones or skin.

This food can be given to cats on a regular basis. It contains all the substances that the animal’s body needs. When switching to super premium food, your pet does not need additional nutrition.

Other foods to replace Mnyams

This food belongs to the premium class and has a relatively low cost. But before making the final choice of a product for your pet, it is recommended to compare it with products from other brands with similar composition.

In some cases, you have to give up Mnyams food. One of my friends has a Siamese cat with a tendency to allergic reactions. In this regard, the animal is put on a strict diet: any deviation from the diet prescribed by the doctor leads to scratching on the cat’s body. The woman had to leave her cat in foster care, as she had to travel to another city for work for several weeks. The owner left the pet to her nephew along with the required amount of special food. However, the food ended prematurely: the nephew gave the animal a bag of Mnyams, as a result of which the cat’s allergies worsened again. The owner, returning from a business trip, did not recognize her pet: she immediately went to the veterinarian for treatment. The cat's condition was stabilized and she recovered. But from that time on, the animal began to follow its diet even more strictly.

Characteristic

Let's get acquainted with the composition using the example of Chicken Marengo food for kittens:

Composition of Mnyams food

Fresh poultry meat came first. As the name suggests, this is chicken. In the second position, rice is a traditional grain for premium feed and higher. The manufacturer does not disclose the sources of raw materials for poultry, meat and fish meal powder.

In the recipe, animal and fish oils are sources of calories and omega-3 fatty acids, dehydrated chopped liver. The wording gives the manufacturer the right to manipulate the sources of raw materials. Sorghum and millet are non-traditional grains that prevent obesity.

In terms of protein quality, potatoes are superior to other plant protein foods and do not contain allergens. Flaxseed produces mucus that protects the intestines from aggressive food digestion products, and also contains essential fatty acids.

Beet chips absorb moisture well, prevent diarrhea, and are a source of dietary fiber. Brewer's yeast is a source of B vitamins, as well as mannanoligosaccharides. The additive has a beneficial effect on the condition of the coat.

Calcium carbonate is a mineral analogous to purified chalk. Potassium chloride was added to balance electrolytes. Blueberries stimulate the formation of bone tissue and strengthen the walls of blood vessels. Lingonberry sanitizes the urinary tract and prevents the formation of stones. Calendula flowers contain carotenoids that improve night vision.

Chicory is a source of the prebiotic inulin. This is food for the lactic acid bacteria of the large intestine. Yucca extract deodorizes feces.

In terms of the composition of ingredients and nutrient content, the food corresponds to the super premium class.

Kinds

So, Mnyams canned food has several directions:

  1. Wet food from the "Cat Fedor" line in pouches.
  2. Wet daily food in pouches.
  3. Canned chicken breast and tuna fillet in cans, packaged 70 g.
  4. Wet complete food "High Cuisine Dishes".
  5. Luxury Delicacies in the form of mousses and pieces in sauce in lamisters.

Let's look at each line in more detail.

Spiders "Fedor the Cat"

There are only three options:

  • "The Hunter's Feast";
  • "Meat Carnival";
  • "Fish Festival"

And in the first place in the composition... disappointment: meat and animal products. Next, in brackets, we see a measly 4 percent each of duck, rabbit, turkey, salmon and trout, as well as larger game, and 4% each of mollusks and crustaceans in fish food. It is not clear whether these killed animals are fresh or dehydrated; how much meat in general is in this hodgepodge is a mystery. Since the animals are listed whole, it means they were added to the food entirely: with bones, skin, entrails, and maybe even feathers - who knows.

Further in the composition we see even more mysterious “derivatives of plant origin”. A long, tricky name can hide cake, peel, waste from grain production - in general, all the most unpalatable things, in a word - waste!

There is no source of fat in this food at all, but there are minerals.

Guaranteed analysis:

  • 8% crude protein;
  • 4% crude oils and fats;
  • 2% ash;
  • 0.4% to 1% fiber;
  • The humidity of this product is 82%.

Conclusion: an absolutely depressing product, created from unknown raw materials, and its composition resembles any cheap food from a supermarket within walking distance. The Oddball Cat categorically does not recommend the “Fedor the Cat” spider.

Wet everyday food in Mnyams bags

Hundred gram spiders in 6 variations. First up again are our old friends: meat and animal derivatives. True, what is in parentheses is a little more cheerful than the previous comrade Fedor:

  • 23% to 25% chicken and poultry.
  • Further, depending on the flavor profile of the pouch: from 3% to 6% pork, 4% each for lamb, beef, salmon and rabbit.

And again, neither the part of the animal nor the type of meat is specified. This means we conclude that they are present entirely in the food. The percentage of specific meat content is not known. Perhaps these are actually horns and legs.

As sources of valuable fat, we have oils and fats, and in some spiders there is a note: “of which 0.2% is fish oil.” This indication of the ingredient again hides the ins and outs from us. This is usually written when low-quality fats are used, because we do not know the quality of the raw materials and the degree of their purification. Such fat mixtures are usually generously flavored with chemical preservatives, which can be hazardous to health.

The next ingredient is plant derivatives, and 0.6% of them is sugar beet pulp. That is, only 0.6% of the raw materials are known to us, and the rest is a trade secret.

And of course minerals and sugars. The calcium/phosphorus ratio is not known, nor is it known whether the food contains taurine, an amino acid that the cat cannot synthesize on its own.

Guaranteed analysis:

  • 8-9% crude protein;
  • 5% crude oils and fats;
  • 2.5% ash;
  • 1% fiber;
  • humidity is 80%.

Conclusion: Not enough protein, it is not known whether the animo acids necessary for the cat have been added. But the food is positioned, for a moment, as complete. The quality is still disappointing.

Canned chicken breast and tuna fillet Mnyams

There are a total of 12 flavor options, packaged in 70 g cans. The canned food is made in the Land of Smiles - Thailand.
When describing the product, the manufacturer assures that it makes products only from selected fresh and chilled meat - let's find out. So, in the first place in the composition of canned food we see up to 50% chicken or tuna. A decent amount, but again – not meat or chicken/tuna fillet, but again the whole animal is indicated. To be honest, this makes me a little stupefied, because judging by the photographs of the contents of Mnyamsa cans, of which there are plenty on the Internet, everything there looks tasty and elegant - really like meat fibers in jelly.

In second place is the auxiliary meat component:

  • dorado,
  • chicken liver,
  • shrimps,
  • beef,
  • salmon,
  • cheese,
  • ham.

Its amount is not large: from 4.5% to 5.7%, in the kitten version there is another 20% of the egg - whether fresh, boiled, with or without a shell - secret.

Kitten food contains 2% sunflower oil - apparently as a preservative, although it could be done without it. Other canned foods do not list any fat sources.

There is a small amount of rice, a natural thickener, and there is also water, the percentage of which is unknown.

There is also the addition of carrageenan or E407, a natural thickener made from red algae. It is supposedly considered safe, but there is an opinion that excess E407 in the body can cause inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract - forewarned is forearmed!

Guaranteed analysis:

  • from 10.63 to 16.58% crude protein;
  • 0.29 to 3.99% (this is kitten food) crude oils and fats;
  • from 0.6 to 1.8% ash;
  • from 0.005 to 0.02% fiber;
  • carbohydrates: from 0.29 to 3.35%;
  • humidity ranges from 79.53% to 85.86%.

What can we say about the guaranteed analysis: with a good percentage of protein, we see a lack of fat, because only in food for kittens there is about 4% of it, and in the remaining jars of fat there is clearly not enough fat for a complete food, as it positions itself. And there is not very much ash, this is a sign that when creating canned food, bones and husks were dispensed with. But even in canned Shezir, which uses approximately the same ingredients (and is considered additional nutrition), there is at least 1% ash, more often 1.5%, and in Mnyamsa even less.

Conclusion: compared to the previous ones, it looks tasty, but there are questions about the ingredients, it contains carrageenan, there is not enough fat to be called complete, the ash content is suspicious. It is not clear whether the calcium-phosphorus ratio in the food is maintained and whether the food is enriched with taurine. Handle with caution and do not use as a primary food.

Pauchi “High Cuisine Dishes”

Here Mnyams marketers went full force - mouth-watering photographs, cute packaging, names that make your mouth water:

  • Bouillabaisse a la Marseille;
  • Lobster in Catalan style;
  • Cataplana in Portuguese, etc.

There are 10 flavor variations in total, 4 of which have a dry counterpart.

But we cannot be swayed by a beautiful picture. Let's see what's in there.

So, meat and offal come first, and the fun begins in brackets. First, the percentage of meat and offal content is indicated (from 45 to 70%), and then the percentage that is some animal, again indicated in its entirety. The amount of this component ranges from 10 to 67%, mainly from 15 to 30%. Well, there are also 3% ostrich, 15% lobster, etc., that’s not the point. As a result, at least half of the raw materials listed as meat and offal are unknown to us.

Next are the carbohydrate ingredients:

  • potato;
  • mushrooms;
  • fruits and berries;
  • peas with carrots;
  • tomatoes.

Their number is small, but some of them, for example, mushrooms and tomatoes, are, to put it mildly, puzzling. For animals they are useless (if not dangerous) and were added more likely to maintain the status of haute cuisine, read - to attract the buyer-owner rather than the cat.

As a source of fat, we finally see salmon oil - perhaps the only specific ingredient.

The veil of secrecy has been lifted a little from the mineral composition. We already understand that taurine is added to these pouches, as is vitamin E (added as a natural preservative).

On the official website, in the description of some spiders there is a footnote “technological additives: thickeners and gelling agents approved in the EU”, without details - understand it as you wish, we can put agar-agar in there, or we can put carrageenan, and it doesn’t even say that these additives are natural !

Guaranteed analysis:

  • 10.5 to 10.7% crude protein;
  • from 6.3 to 6.5% crude oils and fats;
  • from 2.4 to 2.5% ash;
  • 0.3-0.5% fiber;
  • humidity ranges from 79 to 80%.

Bottom line: the mineral composition is more consistent with a complete food feed, it contains enough fat and protein, and ash does not raise any questions. The food contains a good source of fat. However, there is little specificity in the meat ingredients: most of the raw materials are questionable - and therefore are not of high quality. There are exotic additives in the form of mushrooms, tomatoes and paprika, which one could completely do without. Also contains unknown thickeners and gelling agents. The cons outweigh the pros.

Luxury delicacies

So we got to the delicacies.
They are also positioned as full-fledged. There are 6 variations in total, 2 of them are mousse, the rest are pieces in sauce. So, in first place, drum roll... meat and its derivatives. And I would like to end this masochism in its pure form, but let’s go through it in more detail and see what’s in the parentheses.

So, meat and derivatives in this food are 40% and 70%. Of these, chicken is 10-20%, other delicacies like duck, shrimp, beef, liver no name - from 4 to 8%. Next come mysterious plant derivatives, oils and fats of unknown quality.

By the way, these, hmm, delicacies also have different mineral orientations:

  • one contains taurine;
  • in another - biotin;
  • in the third - L-carnitine.

Probably, the manufacturer decided to save money on mineral supplements, and at the same time encourage you to buy everything at once. And really, why put all the cheese into one dumpling? Instead of one jar, you can buy six for 75 rubles, so the norm for mineral composition has been met at the same time. By the way, the daily norm is not indicated on the website.

Guaranteed analysis:

  • from 8.2 to 10.2% protein;
  • from 4.5 to 5.5% fat;
  • from 1.5 to 1.9% ash;
  • 0.4-5.2% fiber;
  • humidity ranges from 78.5% to 81.5%.

Conclusion: another disappointing product with questionable quality and quantity of ingredients.
