Petreet canned food is manufactured in Thailand by order of the Italian concern Bolton Alimentari SpA (the concern actually produces not only animal food, but also canned food for people, household goods, cosmetics, etc.). It’s interesting how high quality the food will be from such a diversified concern, isn’t it?
Feed is imported to Russia, and it also supplies feed such as Mnyams, Monge, Eukanuba, as well as fillers, cosmetics for animals, etc.
Kinds
Under the auspices of the Petreet brand, 118 products are produced, but only the Petreet Natura line is sold in our country. The distributor’s website states that the products in this series are complete, but we did not find such information on the official website of the brand petreet.it. During the review, we will have to find out whether these are complete foods or just treats.
Within the Natura series there are several branches in terms of taste and purpose:
- Natura 100% - products in this mini-series contain one source of animal protein;
- Junior - canned food for kittens from 3 months to a year, which are finely chopped pieces of meat;
- Sfilaccetti di Pollo - it. “chicken chops”, the main ingredient is chicken in combination with other products;
- Tonno del Pacifico - here the main component is Pacific tuna, which is combined with a small amount of additional components;
- Tonno Rosa - the main component is pink tuna;
- Pollo - the main ingredient in this line is chicken breast.
There are also other series, for example Con Frutta, Puro Sapore and others, but these products are not widespread in Russia. For analysis, we will use the composition in Italian.
Which food should you choose for your pet?
With such a variety of diets (do you still remember about 39 positions?) it is difficult to advise the animal owner anything specific. This is exactly the case when the choice remains with the cat. Just to make your mouth water, we can just list some of the dishes from Petreet Natura.
Pieces of chicken with olives, tuna with green beans, pink tuna with celery, chicken with shrimp, young trout, tuna with pieces of mackerel and so on... Have you called Doctor Pavlov?
Natura 100%
This food is available in the form of 85-gram spiders. In this series, the first component is used:
- white fish;
- chicken breast;
- salmon;
- mackerel;
- tuna;
- blue fish (a concept that combines several fatty varieties of fish with a characteristic bluish color, for example sardine, herring, mackerel, saury, etc.).
There are 60% of these ingredients in the food. As for the ingredients themselves, we can immediately say that the manufacturer did not indicate in what form these products were used. Therefore, by default we will assume that we are talking about raw components without signs of decomposition, which were previously subjected to deep freezing. We don’t have any questions about chicken breast, but we do have questions about collective components like white and blue fish - obviously, this is some kind of mix of fish carcasses and their parts, the composition of the raw materials in this case can vary from batch to batch. However, there are quite a lot of animal components in the food, and they are of really decent quality.
Auxiliary ingredients are presented:
- rice flour – 1%;
- modified starch.
These are purely technological ingredients, both are needed as thickeners and stabilization of the contents. They cannot be considered useful - these carbohydrate supplements are not physiological for cats, and they can also provoke an increase in blood glucose levels. On the other hand, there are quite a few of them in the food, so these components can be considered inexpensive fillers and nothing more.
But the question arises: if 60% of the composition is represented by a meat ingredient, 1% by rice flour, modified starch is listed below rice flour, which means its mass fraction is even lower (although the manufacturer did not indicate exact data), but it is not at all clear what the remaining 39 are % mass fraction of feed? Perhaps it is water or broth, but we can only guess here. It is better when the manufacturer does not make secrets for consumers. In the Italian composition on the official website there is no information about the content of micro- and macronutrients in the feed, so we conclude that this product can only be used as additional nutrition.
Petreet Natura: conclusions
We found a note on the label that the diet does not contain artificial colors or preservatives - this is a positive factor. In general, the characteristics of Petreet Natura Tonno Rosa con Calamari are not bad, but let’s not forget that this is an additional food for cats - it can be used as a treat, and not on an ongoing basis - otherwise you will have to balance your pet’s nutrition with the necessary micro- and macroelements.
I would also like to know exactly what components, besides the three indicated, these canned tuna and squid consist of.
Junior
Canned food for kittens, packaged in 80-gram jars, in first place in the amount of 60.1% contains:
- chicken;
- tuna;
- trout.
Here, as in the previous product, we are talking about thawed carcasses and their parts without giblets, heads, scales, paws and fins. The ingredients are decent, they are complemented by technological components:
- rice flour (2%);
- rice and modified starch (only in chicken feed).
And again we have a question about what the 37.9% of feed not designated by the manufacturer is. The composition does not contain minerals, so most likely the food is not complete and it is better to use it as a treat - it is well suited for this function.
Are there any disadvantages to canned food?
Veterinarians who recommend Petreet food and cat owners are unanimous in choosing the main disadvantage - the cost of the food. It is not recommended to introduce this natural product into your diet every day. In pet stores, food is presented in a minimal assortment and costs an order of magnitude higher than when purchased in an online store. You also need to take into account that the line does not include food for kittens and elderly animals.
Petreet Natura canned food is a premium food and it undoubtedly has more advantages:
No preservatives are used in the production of this food.
- Consists entirely of natural meat, seafood and vegetables.
- Does not contain preservatives or flavor enhancers, even salt.
- The food is suitable for any breed of cat.
- Replenishes the body's need for taurine and essential fatty acids.
- Contains up to 1.2% ash, which significantly reduces the risk of developing diseases of the urinary system.
- One serving is enough for one meal for a cat living in an apartment or house.
- The product is hypoallergenic.
- Suitable for castrated and sterilized animals.
- Cats really taste it - this is evidenced by numerous reviews from owners on veterinary forums.
Sfilaccetti di Pollo
Canned products packaged in 70 g, the main ingredient is chicken breast, it is in the food from 60 to 73%, there is also an option where pink tuna (60%) is used as the main component in combination with chicken breast (12%). Meat ingredients will be supplemented with auxiliary components:
- black olives 4%;
- liver 13%;
- shrimp 13%;
- salmon 13%;
- asparagus 13%.
The food also contains 2% rice flour and modified starch. There are questions about the liver - it is not clear from the description which animal this offal was obtained from. Olives and asparagus are not entirely physiological for cats; apparently, they are added as a source of fiber and some vitamins, and both of these plant components have a certain smell (however, it is not known how attractive the feline species will find it). However, in general, the content of meat products in Sfilaccetti di Pollo canned food is slightly higher than in the previous ones, which is definitely a plus, although due to the fact that the mineral composition is not indicated, we cannot definitely recommend this product as a complete product.
Tonno del Pacifico
The compositions of the products included in this category are much more impressive than those of previous series. Here, the first violin is played by Pacific tuna, rich in iodine and animal protein. Its content in these feeds is from 50 to 56%. Tuna is supplemented with the following products:
- surimi 6%, shirasu (a type of non-predatory fish) 3%;
- vegetables (carrots, corn) 6%, cheese 3%;
- carrots 6%;
- green beans 6%;
- crab 6%, dried tuna 3%;
- chicken 6%, beef 1%.
Everything is clear with vegetables - a source of plant fiber and some vitamins. Although the manufacturer did not indicate in what form the vegetables were added to the feed, maybe fresh and whole, or maybe dried and/or chopped.
The surimi component is better known to Russians as “crab sticks” - minced white fish with a high gelling ability, which also includes additives, which can be either natural or synthetic. The component is not very harmful, but also not useful enough, because we do not know either the primary raw materials or the additives with which surimi is very richly flavored. Surimi, crab, and dried tuna primarily play the role of flavoring. As well as some other additional components, which are located further on the list:
- hydrolyzed fish proteins;
- hydrolyzed chicken proteins;
- rice 1%.
Hydrolyzed proteins are a powerful flavoring agent, although they are essentially a source of animal protein that is easily digestible and does not pose a threat to allergic cats, although chemically processed.
Rice of unknown variety and processing is a technological component, a natural thickener and stabilizer.
This time the manufacturer also included vitamins in the composition: vitamin A, vitamin E and a certain antioxidant complex. However, we still cannot consider the product suitable for complete feeding - three types of nutrients are not enough to meet the nutritional needs of a predator.
Tonno Rosa
A noble fish - pink tuna - is the basis for the Tonno Rosa product, which is sold in the format of a 70-gram can. Of all the Petrit lines, this is the widest. The pink tuna content ranges from 60% to 60.1%. Tuna comes with the following ingredients:
- chicken breast 1%;
- celery 4%;
- spinach 4%, chicken breast 1%;
- squid 4%, chicken breast 1%;
- surimi with lobster flavor 4.1%;
- shrimp 4.1%;
- potatoes 4%;
- green beans 4%;
- carrots 4%;
- salmon 4%;
- white fish 4%;
- mackerel 4%;
- crab flavored surimi 4%;
- shirasu 4%.
As we have already written, vegetables act as a source of indigestible plant fiber, i.e. fiber. Potatoes can act as a mass stabilizer due to their high starch content. Surimi with different flavors is a slightly questionable component, but its small amount indicates that this ingredient plays the role of a flavoring additive rather than one of the main sources of animal protein. In general, the components are quite decent.
Let's take a look at technological additives: and there is only 1% rice flour. In addition, the composition contains three vitamins: vitamin A, vitamin D3 and vitamin E. Again, we are forced to admit that three vitamin supplements are not enough to call the product complete, but it can be used as an additional nutrition.

Customer Reviews
Natalya writes:
I bought Petreet Natura, with pieces of pink tuna and carrots. The jar is tightly packed with pieces of tuna in jelly and a little carrot. Smells nice, like tuna. The cat really likes it and devours it on both cheeks.
Of all the canned fish pieces, Petrit is the most favorite because... real big pieces of fish and no water. The only drawback is the high price, but I took it in a set of 6 pieces and it turned out a little cheaper.

This is not the first time I buy this food for my cats - everyone eats it with pleasure. And now I was lucky - there was a 4+2 promotion as a gift. One of the cats needs to be given medication. I add crushed tablets and suspension directly to the can. The cat doesn’t feel the trick and eats everything to the last bite. Other foods of the same series - with lobster, spinach, celery, etc., cats also gobble up them with gusto.
You can see what each jar looks like in the photo. I liked the composition, there is enough meat. Made in Thailand. There are a lot of recommendations and details about the company on the packaging. Cans 70 gr. It's enough for me to feed two cats at one time.
The contents of the canned food inspire confidence - everything is as described in the packaging. I would definitely recommend Petreet canned cat food!

I usually buy Schesir tuna with shrimp; this is a favorite treat for cats. I decided to try some more canned Petreet tuna with lobster. I liked the look and smell, but the cats didn’t so much.
Pollo
The products in this collection are based on chicken breast and are sold in 70-gram cans. The content of chicken breast in Pollo series feeds is from 56% to 60%, it is accompanied by:
- peas 3%;
- carrots 3%;
- green beans 3%;
- pumpkin 3%;
- potatoes 3%.
A small amount of vegetables is allowed in cat food, and they are also a source of fiber. In addition to chicken and vegetables, there is also 1% rice and potassium chloride, which acts as an emulsifier. Potassium is a necessary element for the normal functioning of any living organism, but you won’t be satisfied with potassium alone, because the manufacturer has not indicated any more micronutrients and vitamins. Therefore, we cannot recommend this food as a complete diet for cats.
Our verdict
It should be admitted that Petreet products, despite minor flaws, are a fairly high-quality product. Among the minuses, one could name the presence of carbohydrate technological additives, generalized components (white fish, etc.), and the composition not fully indicated. The main thing we found out is that, due to their composition, Petreet products cannot be considered complete products, so they should be used as an addition to the main diet - dry or natural. This is a great way to pamper your pet with a high-quality wet product, replenish your cat’s moisture deficiency and diversify its diet without compromising its health.
