Even on cheap food they usually write. But in general, no matter what quality it is, it is protein. Well, since the cat eats, and even willingly, then everything is in order. The food is safe, the animal does not get sick. But because of the composition, I would reduce the price if I were the manufacturer.

After castrating the cat, I decided that it would be more correct to choose specialized food for such cats. I was looking for a mid-price segment, and Ontario turned out to be acceptable. At first, the cat was not particularly willing to switch to it, because before that they were fed dry Whiskas, and it was probably full of flavorings that cats were drawn to. But then I started eating normally. The food is twice as expensive as Whiskas, but has great nutritional value, so a smaller volume is enough to keep the animal satisfied. You also need to remember that you should not deviate from feeding norms: neutered cats tend to gain weight. The food is imported, Canadian, as can be seen even from the name. This is already an advantage, because a lot of food products for animals are made here, but they do not differ in quality. So Ontario is not only relatively inexpensive, but also manufactured according to foreign standards, and not to any specifications like ours. There are no complaints about the composition, it cannot be compared with cheap food, there is more meat. But it is far from the level of premium feed, because it is not pure meat, but mainly by-products. But in general, more than 30% of the protein is aged, so the food is healthy. I also like that it contains fiber, which improves intestinal permeability. Various additives normalize the functioning of the genitourinary system, diseases to which neutered cats are often susceptible. My cat has been on this dry food for about a year now, but he still hasn’t had urinary stones.

Our verdict

Well what can I say. Even the price of 140 rubles for a 400 g jar does not make this food attractive enough for us to recommend it. The manufacturer indicated only 30% meat (or carcasses, if just chicken and salmon are indicated), 3% rice and 0.5% salmon or sunflower oil. What the remaining 66.5% of the feed is, that is, the majority, is unknown. Perhaps these are offal (they are at least of animal origin), or maybe grains, which a cat should not eat at all according to its physiology.

It is touching that on the label of any of the four foods there is a carafe of oil, as well as red fish fillets, chopped into generous pieces - but the stated oil is only 0.5%, and there is no red fish fillet in any food, except that with beef and salmon. But even in the food with beef there is no fillet, it is whole salmon.

Let's summarize - Ontario canned food can only be used in the absence of a better quality alternative - after all, objectively speaking, the Ontario composition is better than the composition of any economy food. In all other cases, it doesn’t even smell like super-premium; it’s better to opt for a product with a more transparent composition.

It’s interesting that nothing is said about chicken fillet in the list of ingredients, and there is no mention of chicory at all, so we can’t explain these pictures with anything other than a publicity stunt.

But the inscription “No chemicals, preservatives, colorants” generally looks ridiculous. Firstly, any vitamins and minerals used as balancing additives are chemicals in the strictest sense, and all other components of the feed are organic chemical compounds.

Secondly, it is impossible to make food without preservatives at all - it will quickly deteriorate and lead to poisoning of the animal.
