All Cats economy class food for cats

CAT CHOW

The composition is average, dry food does not have high energy value and nutritional value.
It is balanced, but all the necessary components are added in the minimum acceptable quantity. The basis of the feed is cereals, 90% proteins of plant origin. There are no dangerous or addictive ingredients. The food can be used for daily feeding, but only in combination with other high-quality food (preferably canned food) and nutritional supplements. Not all animals react well to Cat Chow. Some experience severe digestive upset and increased gas production. The range is classic and includes diets for cats of different ages and with different needs. But if these very special circumstances really exist, then it is advisable to look for other options. I started buying Cat Chow as a cheaper option for our beloved Purina, which was recommended to us by veterinarians. The packaging says that the food is without aromatic additives and dyes, although I don’t really believe this, the cat liked it too much, he just pounces on the bowl and eats every last crumb, I hope he doesn’t get too hooked on it. The manufacturer also indicates that the food supports the health of the genitourinary system in castrated cats, I can’t say anything here, not much time has passed, but it certainly hasn’t gotten any worse. But this food will definitely not help cats with problems, because it is not medicinal, but simply should not have a negative effect, and then only if all feeding and drinking rules are observed.

Cat Chow food is a cross between economy and premium food, yes, in some respects it is better than Whiskas and Kiteket, but it cannot be called good either. The range of Cat Chow food is not that large and consists of 8 different types of dry food; this brand does not produce canned food. The main indicator of the quality of food is the first ingredients in the list, in all Cat Chow food the first ingredient is cereals, the next is meat, which, according to the manufacturer, is contained in 40%-50%, but these percentages are made up of the actual amount of meat 20-30% +water. There are no more meat ingredients in the feed except fat from an unknown animal. In general, diets differ very little in composition, and due to what components they perform this or that function, it is a mystery to me. For some reason, all natural ingredients in the food are marked with an asterisk; the “preservatives” ingredient is not marked with an asterisk. From this we can draw a disappointing conclusion - unnatural preservatives are used in the food. But the main surprise in Cat Chow food for me was its price, which is slightly higher than the composition allows and can even be compared with some super-premium food. Although if you remember that the food manufacturer is the Purina Corporation, you can understand that the cost of the food includes not only the ingredients, but also the huge costs of advertising and brand promotion.

It may not be worth giving Cat Chow as a long-term staple food, but I would recommend these foods to those who are experiencing financial difficulties and cannot purchase more expensive cat food. In the range of budget foods, Cat Chows are not the worst; they have a fairly simple composition, so they do not contain many allergens, but the necessary additives are present. Cats usually really like the taste of these foods. Cat Chow is also a good option for a mixed diet; in this case, the food will simply complement the pet’s natural diet, which is difficult to balance. I know some cat lovers who soak food, make cutlets and other culinary “delicacies” from it. If you don’t overfeed cats with this food, then there are no health problems, I even noticed some improvements, my cat began to spit up hair less, otherwise everything remained unchanged.

Cat Chow is a low-cost line from Purina. It suits my cat, but due to the poor quality of the composition, I try to buy it infrequently. I alternate with RK, it turns out cheaper and I don’t see any problems with this combination. I’ll tell you about the pros and cons of the food, which I have identified in my experience: + the food is affordable; + presence of meat and processed products in the composition - 20%; + can be found in any store; + presence of vitamins and minerals. - the first component of the composition is cereals and the manufacturer did not even indicate which ones; — low satiety I don’t buy large bags of food. Therefore, I don’t know the cost of large volumes. A 400 gram package costs around 150 rubles.

The Purina Corporation has been producing animal feed for about 100 years. And when you see the inscription “Expert in pet nutrition since 1926” on a bag of Cat Chow food, it seems that a company with such experience offers high-quality and healthy nutrition. But if you look at the composition of one of the most popular food, Cat Chow “3 in 1”, the picture turns out to be completely different. I am of the opinion that all the ingredients of a food that can be trusted should have a clear name and percentage content; in the description of this food, there is practically none, the products are indicated in groups - “cereals, processed meat products, etc.” But even from this information it can be understood that since cereals are in first place, then there are more of them. There are no useful herbal supplements here either. The manufacturer directly attributes a bunch of useful functions to the food, taking care of the urinary system, taking care of teeth, and removing hairballs, but in reality there is not a single ingredient in the food that can perform these functions. But the most unpleasant ingredient in these foods is preservatives, and no one knows what they are.

I have two cats and it’s expensive to buy expensive food. I tried to switch to Cat Chow, the pets are not mischievous and eat normally. I paid 900 rubles for two packages. These are Cat Chow Sterilized (for castrated animals) and Cat Chow Urinari. Packages are 1.5 kg. every. The manufacturer says that it contains only natural ingredients. But I never believe what is written, and I looked at the composition from beginning to end. I would not classify the product as a premium class. Meat content 14% is very low. But there are plenty of grains - the cat doesn’t need them. They mention oils and fats, but there are no specifics. In general, questions remain regarding the composition. The manufacturer recommends switching to food gradually. Here I completely agree with him. If a cat has a weak gastrointestinal tract, then a sudden transition will have a bad effect on it. Diarrhea and poor health are guaranteed. I introduced the new food little by little, in small portions, until my tailed ones got used to it. Surprisingly, dry food goes well, even with an increased appetite. Sometimes I wonder if there are attractants there, I hope it’s just my imagination. Based on their health, I see that the pets are fine and are active and playful.

Each of the types of food listed above has advantages. However, all foods sold under the Cat Chow brand have the following compositional elements:

  • meat and offal, as well as their processed products;
  • fish and its parts;
  • cereals;
  • a mixture of greens and vegetables: legumes, carrots, beets, spinach, parsley, chicory;
  • animal fats and plant extracts;
  • cellulose;
  • ash;
  • yeast;
  • complex of vitamins A, E, D3;
  • minerals responsible for the condition of hair, vision and brain function: iron, magnesium, selenium, copper, iodine;

X-CAT and X-DOG are

High-quality, balanced nutrition will also be reflected in the appearance of the animal - thick shiny fur, strong teeth, good fatness, strong muscles, active behavior - all this is the result of a properly selected diet.

Advantages and disadvantages

Like any dry food, Cat Chow brand products have their advantages and disadvantages.

Among the advantages of Cat Chow nutrition, one can note the balanced composition and the presence of a vitamin and mineral complex of substances. The herbs in its composition bring another plus to Cat Chow food: their presence helps rid the tray of the specific cat odor.

Cat Chow food is suitable for almost any cat - you just need to make the right choice. The price is affordable for most buyers, and the food is available in many pet supply stores. You can safely purchase a large package and not worry that the food will spoil.

Speaking of disadvantages, we should point out the scanty meat content and the presence of offal. Accordingly, the nutritional value of 100 g of food is low, and consumption doubles compared to more expensive food. The chemical preservatives and odor and taste enhancers included in the food adversely affect the health of the cat.

In general, Cat Chow dry food is not bad for the premium class, and even its shortcomings fit into the framework of this category. The main thing is that the cat receives a sufficient amount of drink along with its food.

Advantages and disadvantages of premium kitten food

According to veterinarians, cats need to be fed super-premium food. Many cats do not do well with holistic foods, so it is best to give them a slightly simpler cat food.

  • balanced composition;
  • natural ingredients;
  • abundance of nutrients;
  • variety of lines and tastes;
  • availability of a therapeutic diet;
  • The composition is indicated in detail on the packaging.
  • very high price;
  • elite food is difficult to find in a store, so it is better to order it online;
  • Counterfeits are common.

The veterinarian will prescribe a diet for the cat and select the appropriate food

The health and longevity of your pet depends on feeding quality food. First-class cat food will delight your pets with a wonderful taste and provide them with all the beneficial substances.

Reviews

But the reviews about this food are contradictory. So you will have to make the decision yourself whether to buy it for your cats or choose another product.

Some cat owners who purchased Cat Chow for their pets are satisfied with its components and reasonable price tag. This is especially true for specialized food - for older cats suffering from stomach disorders, diseases of the urinary system, as well as for sterilized and neutered animals. After all, as veterinarians note, the health and behavior of a cat depends directly on nutrition. And cats whose owners feed Cat Chow special food for pregnant women during pregnancy give birth to healthy kittens.

Owners of cats who consume Cat Chow for a long time do not complain about their pets’ appetite. They only note that they drink more water. But this is normal when an animal eats dry food. The hair sheds less, and the cats themselves become more balanced.

Reviews from other cat lovers sound skeptical. They pay attention to the composition and the tiny amount of meat. In their opinion, a large amount of grain is more suitable for rabbits than for predatory cats. They also do not like the high content of preservatives in the food.

Such owners prefer to either use Cat Chow dry food as a snack, alternating it with natural food, or shell out for more expensive foods for their furry pets.

So, Cat Chow food is something between economy class food and super premium category. In any case, when switching your cat to this dry food, do not forget to show the animal to the veterinarian and discuss the new food with him. The doctor's advice will definitely not be superfluous.

Cat food review Cat Chow

When a cat appears in the house, the first question that arises for the owner is what to feed the furry pet, and what food is best to choose. If your financial capabilities do not allow you to purchase premium or super-premium products, it is recommended to pay attention to Cat Chow food, produced by the famous Purina brand.

This dry food is an intermediate option between economy and premium. Not only does it differ in taste, but it is also produced for cats of different activity levels and ages. The line also includes medicinal types of food that take into account the characteristics of the animal’s body.

Rating of the best domestic manufacturers

The most popular brands, such as Royal Canin, are produced in Russia using foreign technologies or using imported equipment. But there is excellent food produced domestically:

Important! If the owners decide to sterilize the cat, then they need to transfer it to a new diet in advance and gradually.

All medicinal food belongs to the super-premium class

Class and types of feed

In the hierarchy of industrial cat food, Cat Chow products from Purina occupy the penultimate step, since they officially belong to the premium class. This food contains natural ingredients, vitamins and useful additives, however, in terms of benefits it is significantly inferior to super-premium and holistic food.

Variety of choices

But compared to conventional budget food, such food has certain advantages. It is designed not only to eliminate hunger, but also to maintain the health of your pet.

The disadvantage of Cat Chow products is that, like most other premium foods, the composition is not entirely reliable, especially when it comes to protein and protein sources. Most often these items are prescribed chicken protein, chicken and corn gluten.

It should be borne in mind that the term “chicken” does not always mean chicken meat, but also processed products. As for corn gluten, it does contain a lot of protein, but this component is of plant origin, so it is very poorly absorbed by cats. In addition, many cats are allergic to gluten.

Depending on age, health status and daily activity, Cat Chow cat food is divided into the following varieties:

  • for kittens/cats;
  • for spayed/neutered cats;
  • for pets who have digestive problems;
  • control of hairball formation;
  • for special needs.

By-products are the main ingredient

Each of these feeds differs in composition, but all types contain the following components:

  • meat and offal, processed products;
  • fish;
  • cereals;
  • vegetables and herbs: beans, carrots, beets, spinach, parsley;
  • vegetable fibers;
  • yeast;
  • vitamins A, E, D3.

Cat Chow food also contains magnesium, iron and selenium, which are responsible for the functioning of the organs of vision and brain. The appearance of your pet’s fur also depends on these components.

However, the composition is not indicated in too much detail on the packaging. The brand is quite common in pet stores, so it is easy to find.

Golden Eagle or Eagle Pack (Eagle Pack), USA - holistic

American holistic Golden Eagle or Eagle Pack includes three lines:

  • for kittens;
  • for adults;
  • for cats prone to allergies and digestive disorders.

There is little meat here, so the vegetable protein content is high. The composition includes meat flour, rice, potatoes, vegetables, fruits, dried herbs and even spices.

For everyday feeding

When choosing CatChow food for everyday feeding, first of all you need to take into account the age of the pet, as well as its taste preferences. The Purina brand produces Cat Chow food with chicken, poultry, duck and turkey. If the cat is over a year old and has no health problems, the best option would be the Cat Chow 3 in 1 “Triple Protection” product.

Triple protection

This food is a complete daily nutrition, and is designed for adult cats. Cat Chow 3 in 1 consists mainly of poultry, vegetables and herbs, which give the food an attractive aroma. The food received this name because it reduces the likelihood of developing urolithiasis and tartar, and also helps remove hair mats from the stomach.

By age category

When deciding on the type of food for a cat, you need to take into account the age of the pet. Purina has developed several types of food for cats of different ages:

  1. Cat Chow for kittens with chicken. This food is specially formulated for kittens and is suitable for pets aged 6 weeks to 12 months. It contains all the components and minerals necessary for a young body. Many veterinarians advise feeding it not only to kittens, but also to pregnant and lactating cats.
  2. Cat Chow Adult with chicken and turkey. Ideal for adult pets who lead an active lifestyle. It is worth considering that the product contains no more than 5% chicken and turkey, and meat is often replaced with offal.
  3. Cat Chow Adult with rabbit and liver . This type is also intended for adult cats who are full of energy. Its only difference from the previous food is its taste. The composition and content of nutritional components in these feeds are identical.

Cat food Pro Cat - reviews

Although “Pro Cat” wet food has been sold in Russia (by the way, only here, they are not available in other countries) for several years now, there are quite a few reviews about it. Below we have published a few of the ones we found.

Reviews from veterinarians

Customer Reviews

I buy Pro Cat spiders in Beethoven, where they often have a 3+1 promotion (the fourth one is free). The cat likes all the tastes, especially the “Chicken with Ham” taste. I recommend trying it if your cat likes wet food, this one is affordable and the quality is good.
