Bayer (Bayer) Profender Spot-On - Profender is a complex anthelmintic drug. Bayer (Bayer) Profender Spot-On - Profender contains emodepside and praziquantel as active ingredients, as well as auxiliary components (butylhydroxyanisole, isopropylidene glycerol, lactic acid). The drug is a transparent solution for external use from yellow to brown, 1 ml of which contains 21.4 mg of emodepside and 85.8 mg of praziquantel. The drug is produced packaged in 0.35; 0.7; 1.12 ml in polypropylene pipettes with caps, packed in 2 pieces in aluminum blisters, placed in cardboard boxes.
Purpose

- Toxocariasis.

Pharmacological properties
Bayer (Bayer) Profender Spot-On - Profender has a wide spectrum of anthelmintic action on round and tape helminths, including Toxocara cati, Toxascaris leonina, Ancylostoma tubaeforme, Echinococcus multilocularis, Dipylidium caninum, Taenia taeniaeformis, parasitizing cats. Emodepside, which is part of the drug, is a semi-synthetic compound from the group of depsipeptides and has a nematocidal effect. By exerting a stimulating effect on presynaptic latrophilin receptors, emodepside causes paralysis and death of the parasite. The mechanism of action of praziquantel is the depolarization of neuromuscular ganglion blockers, disruption of glucose transport and microturbular function of all phases of cestode development, causing disruption of neuromuscular innervation, paralysis and death of parasites. The pharmacokinetic properties of the drug ensure its good absorption from the site of application and long-term preservation in therapeutic concentrations in the animal’s body. Maximum concentrations of praziquantel and emodepside are observed in the blood serum after 2–4 days; compounds are excreted from the body mainly in urine in unchanged form and partially in metabolized form within 28-30 days. Bayer (Bayer) Profender Spot-On - Based on the degree of impact on the body, Profender is classified as a moderately hazardous substance (hazard class 3 according to GOST 12.1.007-76), in recommended doses it does not have locally irritating, embryotoxic, teratogenic, mutagenic and immunotoxic effects. The drug is well tolerated by cats of different breeds in a therapeutic dose and in a 3-fold therapeutic dose.

The drug, by spreading the fur, is applied to places inaccessible for licking, directly on the skin between the shoulder blades at the base of the neck. When treating large cats, the contents of the pipettes are applied to the skin in the neck area in several places. The minimum therapeutic dose of Bayer Profender Spot-On is 0.14 ml/kg of animal weight. Deworming of cats using Bayer (Bayer) Profender Spot-On - Profender is carried out starting from 8 weeks of age, in the following doses: Weight of the cat, kg, marking and volume of pipettes used: - from 0.5 to 2.5 "Bayer ( Bayer) Profender Spot-On - Profender for small cats - 0.35 ml;

How to properly apply anti-worm drops to a cat’s withers?

Analogs of Profender with other active ingredients:
- Advocate contains imidacloprid, moxidectin. The product is effective for deworming, removing fleas, ticks, and treating ear scabies. It is prohibited to use the drug if the pet is less than two months old or its body weight is less than 1 kg. Treatment of pregnant and lactating cats is possible with the approval of a veterinarian. The dosage is calculated as 0.1 ml per 1 kg of cat weight. Advocate is available in volumes of 0.4 ml (animals weighing up to 4 kg), 0.8 ml (cats weighing up to 8 kg).
- Stronghold is suitable for removing helminths and ticks. The active substance is selamectin. The product is used to treat animals older than 6 weeks. It is approved for treatment and prevention of pregnant and lactating cats. The dosage is calculated according to the principle of 6 ml per 1 kg of pet’s body weight. Stronghold is produced in pipettes of different volumes with different color markings - 0.25 ml for cats weighing up to 2.5 kg, 0.75 ml for animals weighing up to 7.5 kg.
- Inspector Total – contains fipronil, moxidentin, used for flea removal and deworming. Treatment of pets weighing less than 1 kg and pregnant lactating cats is prohibited. Available in dosages - 0.4 ml for animals weighing up to 4 kg, 0.8 kg for cats weighing up to 8 kg, 2.5 ml - weight from 10 kg.
