How to take care of an Abyssinian cat so that it grows up beautiful and healthy

Among the many different breeds of cats, there is one endowed with incredible grace and grace - these are Abyssinian cats - intelligent, flexible and dexterous creatures. They have a certain amount of mystery and aristocratic sophistication, and their appearance is called “divine.”

“Abyssinians” are unique, they are so original that it is impossible to confuse them with others:

  • Body type . Thin and graceful, but quite muscular. Weight is small - 4~5 kg (females are smaller than males). The body is unusually flexible (even for cats).
  • Head . Wedge-shaped with very large ears. The neck is long. Huge almond-shaped eyes, as if lined with mascara, amber and green.
  • Tail . Long and graceful, thicker at the base, tapering towards the tip. The color does not differ from the color of the main “fur coat”, although it is a little fluffier than the rest of the fur.
  • Limbs . Elongated, with very neat legs. “Abyssinians” walk very carefully - stepping not with all their paws, but only with their fingers, as if on tiptoe.
  • Wool . Medium length, slightly thick, hard and shiny. The color is unique: each hair is colored in several shades, which is unique to this breed.

What is interesting: Abyssinian cats give birth to no more than three kittens in one litter, and boys are more often born. Kittens develop slowly and remain “children” for a long time.

What do Abyssinian cats look like?

There is no consensus on the origin of this breed.
Although the ancient Egyptians worshiped cats, the frescoes and sculptures of which are surprisingly similar to modern Abyssinians. According to one version, based on genetic research, these cats could have originated from animals from Southeast Asia and the Indian Ocean coast. At the same time, the external similarity of Abyssinians with wild African cats is also noted. Although the breed received its modern appearance thanks to British breeders who were engaged in it back in the 19th century.

Abyssinian cats Abyssinian cats are flexible, strong and muscular medium-sized animals. Their head is in the shape of a slightly rounded wedge, the muzzle is not pointed. The ears are large, wide, with a cupped base.

The eyes are almond-shaped, large and expressive. The body is well-developed muscles, but at the same time graceful. The legs are proportional, thin, with compact oval paws. The tail is quite long, tapering towards the end.

The coat of Abyssinian cats is shiny, soft, silky, fine in texture, but at the same time thick and elastic to the touch. The length is average, with each hair having 2-3 dark ticking stripes. Coat colors are wild, sorrel, fawn and blue.
