What are the reasons for white discharge in a cat and why a visit to the veterinarian is needed

Discharge from a cat's loop is a controversial phenomenon, since in some cases it can represent an absolutely normal condition, but in other situations it can be a serious signal of a problem with the pet's health. The most difficult thing in this matter is that it is quite difficult to distinguish abnormal discharge from normal discharge.

As a rule, discharge occurs normally in cats during pregnancy, the birth period, and also after it. Otherwise, if the cat is not pregnant, has not given birth or is breastfeeding, and has discharge, this is a reason to immediately consult a doctor, since the cause of such discharge can be serious illnesses, sometimes even leading to the death of the animal.

Brown discharge from a cat's loop

Brown discharge from a cat's loop inevitably indicates that the cat has inflammation or infection. And going to a doctor for consultation and treatment in this situation is the only right choice.

As a rule, brown discharge occurs in cats with diseases:

• hormonal diseases;
• inflammation of the uterus;
• endometritis;
• rectal defects;
• vaginitis;
• coagulation disorder;
• neoplasia;
• vaginal tumors.

The problem is that it is often difficult for owners to detect the color and presence of discharge, since cats often lick themselves, leaving absolutely no traces behind. Thus, owners should pay attention to other symptoms of a potential disease if they do not notice any discharge as such:

• the cat licks itself often (with a break of 10-15 minutes);
• the cat rolls, crawls on the floor, sitting;
• difficulty going to the toilet;
• increased urination or difficulty urinating;
• lethargy, loss of appetite.

These accompanying symptoms should clearly show the owner that he urgently needs to take the animal to the clinic to find out the cause of the unhealthy behavior and further treatment.

Treatment

1. Only a qualified veterinarian should choose therapy to treat your pet after examination, ultrasound and carefully collected tests.
2. If the placenta does not separate for a long time, injections of the hormone oxytocin are used. Only a specialist can correctly determine the dose of medication to protect your pet from unpleasant and painful consequences.
3. For severe hemorrhage, vasoconstrictor and hemostatic medications are used.
4. For infectious diseases, inflammatory and pathological processes, anti-inflammatory or antibacterial drugs are prescribed.
5. For a speedy recovery of your pet, you should pay attention to the quality of its nutrition, a sufficient amount of vitamins and nutrients in it. Sometimes additional multivitamins or immunomodulators are prescribed.
6. In particularly difficult cases, surgery is prescribed.

Purulent discharge from a cat’s loop, just like brown discharge, indicates a disorder. The presence of purulent discharge from the animal’s vagina may indicate the presence of diseases such as:

• neoplasia of the urogenital tract;
• unhealthy position of the ureter;
• trauma to the vagina or the presence of a foreign body in it;
• urogenital infections;
• pyometra and others.

Treatment of various discharges in a cat occurs by prescribing antibiotics, chemotherapy, and restorative therapy. In many cases, surgery is required to remove the tumor or correct organ defects.
