Long-term protection from serious diseases for cats will be provided by regular vaccination using effective immunobiological preparations. These include the Nobivak series vaccines. They help to form specific immunity against different types of infections. Let's find out how to properly use Nobivak vaccines for cats and how they act on the body.
Nobivak Tricat Trio
This is an immunobiological drug, the manufacturer of which (like other vaccines) is. The dry vaccine contains weakened viruses that, after special preparation, are not capable of mutating or causing disease. It helps to form specific immunity to three dangerous infections.
The basis of the drug is a culture liquid from FEF cells. It is infected with the following viruses: rhinotracheitis (strain G 2620) – 5.2 lg PFU (plaque-forming units), calcivirosis (F9) – 4.6 lg PFU and panleukopenia (MW-1) – 4.3 lg TCD50 (tissue cytopathogenic doses). Gelatin, sorbitol, PGA, disodium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate and injection liquid are used as auxiliary components.
The drug is sold together with a solvent that contains disodium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate, potassium dihydrogen orthophosphate and injection water.
Contraindications
Of course, in order to develop stable immunity, the pet must be absolutely healthy. Contraindications to immunization are:
- temperature increase;
- dehydration, exhaustion of the body;
- state of immunodeficiency;
- helminthic infestation;
- recent injuries, serious illnesses, surgery.
According to indications, vaccination is possible during the period of gestation of kittens and feeding them with milk
General information
Nobivac Tricat Trio is presented as a lyophilisate from which the solution is prepared, as well as an injection liquid (Nobivac Diluent). The vaccine looks like a homogeneous fine pink powder, and Nobivac Diulent is transparent. The lyophilisate quickly dissolves in a special liquid.
Nobivak Triket Trio is packaged in glass bottles with 1 vaccination dose (0.5 cm³ - before freeze-drying). The solvent is in the same containers as the vaccine, but its volume is 1 ml. Each bottle is hermetically sealed with a rubber stopper, which is additionally reinforced with a metal cap. The containers are in plastic or cardboard boxes of 5 or 25 pieces along with instructions for use.
Nobivak for cats is used to prevent the following diseases in cats:
- herpes viral rhinotracheitis (damage to the eyes and respiratory organs);
- calcivirosis (fever, conjunctivitis, the appearance of ulcers on the mucous membranes of the mouth and nose and lameness);
- feline distemper or panleukpenia (damage to the gastrointestinal tract, respiratory organs, heart, intoxication and dehydration).
The vaccine also helps reduce the symptoms of the first two diseases.
The vaccine must be used within 33 months after manufacture, and the solvent must be used for 5 years. After this period, the components of the medication must be disposed of. The prepared solution (after dilution) must be administered to the cat within 30 minutes.
The optimal temperature for storage and transportation of Nobivak Tricat Trio is from +2°C to +8°C. If the solvent is stored separately, the temperature should be in the range from +2°C to +25°C.
Important! If there are no labels on the bottles, the integrity of the container is damaged and the color or consistency of the contents has changed, then the vaccine is disinfected. To do this, it is boiled for 20 minutes and then disposed of.
Biological properties of Nobivak TricatTrio
The complex drug stimulates the production of antibodies to three infections at once 10 days after double administration.
Immunity against herpesvirus rhinotracheitis and calcevirus infection lasts 1 year. The pet is protected from feline distemper for 3 years.
Application procedure
Nobivac Triket Trio is suitable for kittens from 8–9 weeks and adult cats.
According to the instructions for use, if the pet has not been vaccinated before, then it is vaccinated 2 times with an interval of 21–28 days.
To support post-vaccination immunity against rhinotracheitis and calcivirosis, repeated vaccination (re-vaccination) is done once a year. Instead of Nobivac Triket Trio, you can use Nobivac Ducat, which helps against the diseases listed above. Revaccination against feline distemper is carried out once every 36 months.
Vaccination schedule using Nobivak vaccines:
- first vaccination – 2 times, Triquet Trio is used;
- repeated immunization - in the first and second year the cat is given Dukat, in the third - Triquet Trio.
First you need to prepare the solution; to do this, use a new syringe to inject a solvent (1 ml) into the bottle with the lyophilisate and shake the liquid so that the powder dissolves. The solution is injected under the skin (in the withers area), before the procedure the injection site is wiped with alcohol (70%).
Important! It is necessary to comply with the vaccination regimen. If a cat is missed, the vaccination is given as soon as possible, and then according to the schedule. 10–12 days before immunization, the pet is treated for helminths and external parasites. After all, they weaken the body, which cannot produce enough antibodies.
General rules for vaccinating pets
The vaccination rules for both dogs and cats are the same:
- The animal must be healthy at the time of vaccination.
- 10 days before vaccination, it is necessary to carry out treatment against skin parasites - ticks, fleas, lice, as well as deworming.
- Although your pet will be examined by a veterinarian before vaccination and will make sure he is in excellent health, it is advisable to monitor the animal, its appetite, general condition for 3 days before vaccination, and also measure its temperature at the same time.
Normally, in healthy dogs it is 37-39C, in puppies – no higher than 39.5C, in kittens – from 38.5 to 39.5C, and in adult cats and cats – 38-39.5C.
Remember! If your pet is allergic, notify your veterinarian. It is possible that the animal will be given diphenhydramine before vaccination.
Nobivac Rabies
This is a virus-containing culture liquid from the BHK-21 clone CT cell line. It contains the rabies virus (strain Pasteur/RIV), beta-propiolactone was used to inactivate it. An adjuvant (2%) of aluminum phosphate will help improve the immune response to vaccine antigens. It also contains a buffer solution - glycine.
This drug from the Nobivak series will help protect cats (and other animals) from rabies. This deadly infection is transmitted to people, which is why timely vaccination is so important.
Properties of the vaccine
Nobivac Rabies is presented as a suspension for injection. In appearance, it is a yellowish or pink liquid with small solid particles suspended in it. A precipitate may form in the solution, which disappears after shaking.
The suspension is packaged in glass bottles of 1 ml (1 vaccination dose). They are hermetically sealed with rubber plugs and reinforced with metal lids. Each cardboard or plastic package contains 10 bottles, as well as instructions.
The content of protective (protective) antigens of the fixed virus in the vaccine is 2 IU/ml (1 bottle).
As mentioned, an immunobiological drug is used to prevent rabies in cats, dogs, cows, bulls and horses.
Nobivac Rabies must be used within 4 years after manufacture. After opening the bottle, the period is reduced to 3 hours. Expired medication must be disposed of.
A dark place with temperatures from +2°C to +8°C is suitable for storing immunobiological agents. It cannot be frozen.
The vaccine should not be used if the bottle or cap is damaged, frozen, or has changed color or consistency. Then the suspension in the bottle is boiled for 15 minutes and then disposed of.
Biological properties of Nobivac Rabies
The immune response to rabbivirus in cats is formed within 3 weeks. One vaccination is enough to protect your pet from infection for a long time.
Specific immunity lasts for 3 years, and in large animals – 2 years.
Mode of application
Nobivak Rabies can be used from 3 months. At this age, the kitten undergoes its first vaccination.
Important! In areas unaffected by rabies, kittens are vaccinated with Nobivak Rabies twice: at 8 weeks and 3 months.
A repeat injection to prolong post-vaccination immunity is done once every 12 months.
The rabies vaccine must be shaken before use. The medicine is drawn up with a syringe and injected into the area between the shoulder blades (under the skin) or the thigh (inside the muscle); the injection site is first wiped with cotton wool soaked in alcohol.
Interesting! Sometimes Nobivac Dukat is used to dissolve the rabies vaccine of the same name. It is allowed to combine Nobivac Rabies with Triquet Trio. But the drug is administered with different sterile syringes and into different parts of the cat’s body.
Side effects
Nobivak vaccines are positioned as harmless, however, after administration, the animal may experience some symptoms of post-vaccination inflammation:
- after subcutaneous administration of Triket Trio and Forcat for two days, the pet may experience swelling and redness at the injection site and a temporary increase in body temperature;
- after vaccination with Rabies, a slight swelling may form at the injection site, which gradually disappears within 1–2 weeks;
- Administration of the intranasal Bordetellosis Bb vaccine is usually not associated with any complications, but in rare cases, cats may experience bouts of sneezing, a mild cough, and brief discharge from their eyes and nose.
Features of the vaccine
A veterinarian prescribes Nobivak Dukat for cats to prevent herpes virus infection (rhinotracheitis) and calcivirosis.
The drug is presented as a lyophilisate, from which a solution for injections is made. It looks like a homogeneous fine powder of a light pink hue. It is packaged in glass bottles with 1 vaccination dose (0.5 cm³ - volume before freeze-drying). Each bottle is hermetically sealed with a rubber stopper and reinforced with a metal cap on top. There are 10 bottles in a cardboard or plastic package along with instructions for use.
Nobivac Dukat must be used within 2 years after manufacture. After combining the lyophilisate with the solvent, the drug must be used no later than half an hour later. Expired medication is disposed of.
The optimal temperature for storing and transporting the vaccine is from +2°C to +8°C.
Important! The lyophilisate must be disinfected and disposed of if the integrity of the bottle is damaged or the density of the contents or color has changed. Then the container is boiled for 20 minutes and then thrown away.
Storage conditions, price and analogues
The medicine can only be stored in a dark, cool and dry place. You also need to make sure that small children and pets cannot get close to the drug. Diluted, unused medication must be disposed of, and the bottles must be treated with boiling water beforehand. The maximum shelf life is 2 years and 9 months.
