Advantages
Reviews insist that the advantages of the brand do not end with affordable prices and a huge selection, which allows you to find a suitable solution for cat litter.
Fillers are made from natural raw materials, without aromatic or other additives. A correctly selected variety will not cause rejection or allergies in the cat.
Wood can be disposed of in the sewer. The structure of each type allows you to select an acceptable size of granules or fraction size, without the risk that the cat will carry it on its paws or fur. According to reviews, clumping and absorbing properties really correspond to the declared properties.
The Siberian cat is a recognizable and publicly available brand, so you won’t have any difficulty buying litter.
Cat litter “Siberian cat”
The most popular among cat breeders is wood filler. Filler granules are made from coniferous wood. This litter is suitable not only for cats, but also for other small animals. There are no artificial additives in the granules, but the aroma of pine needles is still present. Wood filler is environmentally friendly, since the granules are recyclable and decompose in the natural environment. Currently, three types of wood filler of this brand are produced:
- “For forest kittens” 3 l and 5 l (pellet fraction 6 mm);
- "Flora" 5 l and 20 kg (6 mm granule fraction);
- “Lesnoy” 3 l, 5 l, 7 l, 10 l and 20 l (pellet fractions 8–10 mm).
litter for kittens is provided in packages of 3 and 5 liters
The wood is treated in such a way that it acquires disinfecting properties. Therefore, a separate line of products can be used for kitten litter. In addition, wood filler is one of the most economical, since when wet, the granules turn into bulk sawdust. Having removed them from the tray, the filler level needs to be replenished with a small amount of granules.
This filler is not officially considered biodegradable, but the manufacturer provides for the possibility of throwing it down the drain.
filler with a volume of 5 liters is packed in plastic bags
The disadvantage of this filler is the need to constantly clean the tray. After each use, the contents of the tray should be mixed and, if necessary, removed. This product is convenient for those who spend a lot of time at home.
clumping
The Siberian Cat clumping litter is made of bentonite clay. Bentonite is a strong natural sorbent; its porous structure allows moisture to be absorbed into the shell of the granules. Thanks to this, bentonite crumbs stick together, forming a lump. The smell is “locked” inside the glued granules. Therefore, only those granules that are wet are consumed at a time.
Five-liter packs of filler are equipped with handles in the form of holes
If bentonite is poured with too much water, the sorbent particles will absorb as much water as possible, after which they will swell and turn into a thick suspension. This explains the white cat marks on the floor that cat owners hate so much. Therefore, it is important to monitor the cleanliness of the tray.
When using bentonite filler, you can resort to one trick. You need to put a clay filler on the bottom of the tray, and another one on the grate that won’t get the animal’s paws dirty. Solid waste will need to be removed from the grate, and lumps that have absorbed liquid will need to be removed from the bottom.
bentonite-based fillers are popular all over the world (along with wood fillers)
This “Siberian Cat” litter is sold in packages of different sizes. There are several types of this product:
- “For kittens Super” 3 l;
- "Prima" 5 l;
- “Super” 3 l, 5 l, 10 kg and 20 kg;
- "Extra" 5 l;
- "Ultra" 3 l, 5 l, 7 l and 20 kg.
I use bentonite litter for my cat. Its pellets are heavier than wood pellets, so they don’t spread around the house as much. In our tray, lumps do not form (they do not have time), but I am satisfied that the clay retains the smell well. The only thing I didn't like was the wet particles sticking to the bottom. To clean the tray, I had to use a spatula with a hard bottom. But after cleaning the toilet, I also had to wash the spatula. Now I use cling film (lay it on the bottom of the tray). When it’s time to change the filler, I simply tip the tray into a garbage bag, and all the dirt comes off along with the film.
fillers with a volume of 20 liters are packed in thick plastic bags
Bentonite-based filler retains odors well. Moisture absorption depends on compliance with the rules of use. The level of filler in the tray must be at least 5 centimeters. This can be called one of the shortcomings of the product. In addition, this filler should not be thrown into the sewer (it will clog the pipes).
The filler itself does not smell of anything, does not generate dust when poured, and lasts a long time. We have been using the 4 liter package for two months now and are not finished yet. I think we’ll extend it for three months.

Absorbent
absorbent litter “Extra” is intended for the litter box of long-haired cats
Absorbent fillers “Siberian Cat” are made from minerals: diatomite and opoka. Diatomite has a special structure that allows it to absorb moisture. In addition, diatomite granules are resistant to acid and heat. When wet, the acidic liquid medium retains both the liquid and the odor.
Diatomite is an earthy, friable or cemented siliceous (opal) rock of white, light gray or yellowish color, consisting of more than 50% diatom shells. Diatomites are of marine, less often freshwater (lake) origin. They contain up to 70-98% soluble silica, have high porosity, low volumetric weight, adsorption and thermal insulation properties. Distributed in Paleogene-Neogene and Quaternary deposits.

Diatomaceous earth litter is good for kittens, as they urinate more often than adult cats
The Novosibirsk manufacturer produces several types of filler from mineral raw materials:
- “For kittens” 3 l, 5 l (fraction 1–2 mm);
- “Extra” for longhair 3 l, 5 l, 7 l, 20 l (fraction 4–6 mm);
- “Universal” for all types of cats and other small animals 3 l, 5 l, 20 l (fraction 2–4 mm).
Another material used for the manufacture of absorbent filler is flask. The composition of this rock includes: silicon, clay, sand, glauconite, etc. The color of such material can be any (from light gray to black). The structure of the rock is micro-grained, so it has strong adsorbing properties.
Opoka is a microporous rock composed of amorphous silica (opal) with an admixture of clayey matter, skeletal parts of organisms (diatoms, radiolarians and spicules of flint sponges), mineral grains (quartz, feldspars, glauconite). The SiOj content reaches 92-98%. In Russian literature, opoka was originally called siliceous marl and siliceous clay. Some authors consider opoka to be a product of alteration of diatomites, spongolites, and tripoli; others classify them as marine chemical formations.

due to its absorbent effect, the flask filler is suitable for cats of any age
Two types of fillers are produced from the flask:
- “Comfort” 3 l, 5 l, 7 l, 20 l (fraction 3–6 mm);
- “Effect” 3 l, 5 l (fraction 6–10 mm).
The “effect” is suitable for long-haired cats, since the large fraction granules do not stick to the fur. This way, particles of filler will not be “pulled” around the apartment.
I get home late in the evening, and during the day the cat is left to its own devices. During this time, the litter has time to get wet, spill out, “move” onto the carpets, etc. To avoid this, I lay a small rubber mat under the cat’s litter box. All the debris and white prints remain on it now. You could also lay a regular rug, but crumbs can fly off it (and it’s also difficult to wash). And rubber mats (for the bathroom) do not slip, so the granules get stuck on it. This rug is easy to wash.
Silica gel
silica gel fillers belong to the “Elite” class
Silica gel is an artificially dried gel (silicon dioxide) in the form of fine granules. The shape of the granules can be any, the color is transparent or translucent, whitish. Silica gel granules are formed from fused dioxide particles having a spherical shape. This structure makes the material highly porous. Silica gel absorbs moisture in large quantities (liquids and vapors).
Some avoid silica gel fillers due to the fact that it is synthetic. In fact, there is no danger. The liquid that gets into the silica gel granules is completely absorbed, turning the filler grains into gel balls. The moisture from these balls does not evaporate, and the silica gel itself is also not volatile. Therefore, this filler is harmless to both people and cats.
In addition, silica gel has a bactericidal effect. This filler does not require daily replacement. And for silica gel to “work” correctly, it needs to be stirred periodically.
There is also a silica gel filler for particularly picky cats.
Two types of filler are made from synthetic material:
- "Elite" 4 l, 8 l;
- “Elite” for picky cats 4 l, 8 l and 16 l.
The peculiarity of using such a filler is that the cat will not be afraid to step on already wet balls, since the surface of the granules will always seem dry. But the cat will need to be accustomed to silica gel (some cats only start using it on the second try). In addition, silica gel can dry out the skin on the animal’s paws. Therefore, periodically inspect your pet's paw pads.
Sibitovy
Sibit is a stone artificially created from sand, lime, cement and water. The sibitol filler also contains anhydride. The granules of this filler have a uniformly porous structure, so the pebbles breathe and absorb moisture (like wood).
Sibit fillers absorb moisture well, but do not retain odor well
The “Budget” filler, created from such a stone, is sold in packages of different volumes: 3 l, 5 l, 7 l, 10 l and 20 l. The main advantage of this product is its inexpensive price. Disadvantages include poor odor blocking and the need for frequent cleaning of the tray.
Flaws
The Siberian cat offers a large selection, but the manufacturer insists that you must strictly follow the instructions. Negative reviews appear as a result of incorrect selection or use of filler. If assessed objectively, then:
- mineral fillers create dust. They and silica gel cannot be flushed down the toilet. Thorough and regular mixing is required;
- wood, crumbling into shavings, still ends up outside the tray. If they are not sifted and mixed in a timely manner, the result will be disastrous.
Not all cats react adequately to large granules: for some it is a toy. Silica gel fizzes when used and is not suitable for litter box training. "Sibit" does not lock out odors very well.
Trade mark "Siberian cat"
Siberian Cat is a Russian limited liability company founded in 2002. This Siberian company has a large industrial complex (Novosibirsk), which produces raw materials for the manufacture of main products.
In addition to its main products, the Siberian company produces various kits for animals
