The working surface of the glove is a rubber (silicone) plate with pimples, sewn to a fabric glove. Used to remove dead hair from long- and short-haired dogs and cats. Place on your hand and run along the fur, gently massaging the skin. The lint stuck to the pimples is removed with a single sheet. The tool costs 150–300 rubles.
Not all pets like to be brushed. The teeth scratch the skin and pull the fur unpleasantly. Pet hair gloves don't act like regular toothed combs. They gently pass over the pet's body, collecting dead hairs. Your pet will feel as if he is being pleasantly stroked.
Why brushing is important
There are many reasons why brushing is important for cats. These reasons will be different for long-haired and short-haired pets. That is why different products are made. As you can see in the photo of combs for cats, these models have different densities of teeth and different shapes.
Why brushing is important for long-haired pets:
- This process eliminates the formation of tangles.
- Stimulates the growth of undercoat and new coat
- Cats are getting fluffier
- The comb collects lost hairs
- Dead hairs and skin particles do not collect in the animal’s stomach and do not spread throughout the apartment
Importance of the process for short-haired animals:
- The coat becomes smoother and silkier
- Skin massage occurs
- Fur and skin particles are removed using a comb.
Important! Many owners of smooth-haired pets think that they do not need to be brushed. This opinion is wrong. These animals also need similar care, like their furry relatives.
Furminator glove for pets
Hi all. In today's review, I want to share with you my impressions of the furminator glove that I purchased on eBay. So, dedicated to all lovers (or simply owners) of cats and dogs! Anyone who has a cat or dog at home knows that no matter how much you take care of your favorite animal, its fur will be everywhere. You can come to terms with this and not bother combing, or you can try to reduce the amount of hair flying around the apartment and get a furminator. If anyone doesn’t know, this is a special thing (like a comb) that is used to comb out fur. We have several of them, from cheap ones bought at the nearest market to expensive ones from a well-known pet store in local circles. I’ll say right away that there is no point in saving on furminators, because while a cheap one doesn’t cope with its task at all, an expensive one does it perfectly. But our cat, for a reason unknown to me, is afraid of it like fire and, at the sight of this thing in his hand, runs to hide under the bed, then under the table, or somewhere else. In general, the process of combing clearly does not bring him pleasure. Therefore, the expensive “cat comb” was thrown on the shelf and successfully forgotten, which led to an increase in the volume of hair wandering around the apartment and collecting mainly on rugs and the sofa. And then, not so long ago, I saw a furminator-glove on TV. Like other things from similar categories, it was terribly praised and offered as many as a couple of pieces for a price of around $10. In general, I became interested. But why do I need two of them if I have only one cat? And why pay $10 if you can get it for $3? I actually bought mine for $1.49, however, the ad is no longer active.
In general, I ordered and waited. There was no normal track for the parcel, so information about its movement across China is available here for your reference. It took about a month for the package to get to the local post office.
The glove came in a regular plastic bag and at the time of receipt it looked like this:
Nothing remarkable in appearance. The glove itself is made of synthetic checkered fabric. The main thing here is a silicone pad with pimples attached to the “working” area of the glove. The overlay is sewn on, not glued, so I want to believe that it will not start to fall off. As for the workmanship of the glove in general, it is very mediocre. Here and there there are threads sticking out, here and there there are crooked seams, but nothing critical. Besides, we don’t have to wear it to a masquerade ball, so, as they say, it will do.
To secure the glove on the hand, it is not a cuff that is used, but an elastic band with Velcro, and its dimensions are not designed for large hands. It’s comfortable for my daughter and wife to wear a buttoned-up glove, but the rubber band is squeezing my wrist. Moreover, I would not say that it is thick.
The same goes for the size of the glove itself. It is more aimed at small women's or children's hands. Everything indicates that caring for a pet is an activity either for a child or for the female half of the population. On my hand the glove fits something like this:
But due to the reliable fixation of that same Velcro, the glove does not fall off or spin. It is equally convenient for me, my wife, and my daughter to use it. So to sum up the section on ergonomics, I can say that it is still universal and will suit anyone.
The most important thing about this glove is the rubber insert with pimples, of which there are a lot. The length of each is about 5 millimeters and it covers not only the palm, but also the fingers, all 5 of them. Interestingly, at the time of receipt, the rubber used for its manufacture did not have any foreign odor, which is rare for Chinese things of this price category.
This concludes the description of the glove and proceeds to testing its performance in practice. A Thai Longhair domestic cat was used as a test subject.
The first thing that surprised you can be seen in the photo posted above. Unlike standard furminators, this glove did not cause a panic attack in the cat. He didn’t run away, didn’t jump on the walls, didn’t break out. As soon as my daughter started petting him, the cat simply lay down on the floor and lay there calmly until the procedure was completed. Moreover, closer to the middle of the execution, he began to purr, which indicates that he liked this business. Simply put, he was “dragging” from being petted from all sides
The result of a relaxing procedure that took just a few seconds is visible in the following photo:
After about a minute of “combing,” quite a bit of hair had accumulated on the glove. To be more precise, here is a lump:
And this happens in less than a minute! Honestly, if at first I was pessimistic and didn’t feel particularly optimistic, then when I saw the glove in action I realized that it works, and how it works!
The wool gathers perfectly on the rubber insert, clinging to the pimples. Over time, the entire “working” side of the glove becomes covered with wool, like one big carpet:
As for cleaning wool from gloves, there are no particular problems. It can be assembled from the rubber insert without any problems. To simplify the procedure even more, you can use water. Of course, it won’t be possible to quickly remove all the hairs, but it takes a minute, no more, to bring the glove into divine shape. After this it is ready for use again.
So I was very pleased with the purchase. We can say that this is one of my most successful acquisitions this year. The fur on the rugs has noticeably decreased, and this despite the fact that we don’t brush the cat every day. But the most important thing is that now this procedure does not traumatize the animal’s psyche, but gives him pleasure
That's probably all. Thank you for your attention and your time.
Types of combs
There are several main types of combs that are designed for different lengths of hair, different undercoats and animals with different sensitivities.
Comb options:
- A furminator comb for cats is a special device with curved thin metal teeth. Thanks to its design, the product perfectly separates hairs, does not tear them, and at the same time removes excess secretions from the fur and dead particles.
- Pukhoderka. This is a special brush with special, very thin metal teeth that comb out the undercoat without affecting the main hair. It is needed for cats with fluffy fur and abundant undercoat.
- Combs. They are suitable for smooth coats without heavy undercoat. They separate hairs well and massage the skin. There are combs with and without handles, as well as frequent and rare.
- Double sided brush. One side with metal teeth is designed to remove excess undercoat. The other one, with bristles, is designed for combing the main coat.
- Brush with bristles. The bristles can be natural or artificial. Such products are suitable for cats with any length and density of fur.
- Comb with blade. A blade is inserted into the back of the comb to remove excess hair.
- Glove-comb for cats. This is a very convenient product for owners and useful for cats. Suitable primarily for those animals that do not like to be combed. Using a mitten, tangles can be quickly and easily removed, hair of any length can be combed, and the skin can be massaged.
Why do you comb dog hair?
Hygiene rules are also important for animals. By removing specks and dirt brought by your dog from a walk, systematically treating the fur with special oils, you can forever rid your pet of skin irritation and the formation of tangles.
Important: Regular combing and removal of old fur in most cases replaces bathing dogs, for which it can be harmful, and also allows you to quickly notice the appearance and growth of flea populations.
Careful, soft stroking while brushing with gloves helps improve a good relationship between the owner and his pet, because dogs enjoy the process of brushing. But among them there are quite temperamental individuals, with a wild, mischievous disposition, who cannot be called assiduous. They must be fixed before starting this procedure. You should not squeeze the animal; it is better to simply tie it on a short leash to a stable support.
Materials for combs
Also, combs are made from different materials, which can be either natural or artificial.
- There are brushes with natural pig bristles or combs made of wood - pets will like them the most, since animals perfectly sense natural odors.
- Reviews of combs for cats show that it is for this reason that many owners prefer to choose natural materials.
- Such products are also more pleasant for the owners’ hands.
Another advantage of natural products is that they do not accumulate static electricity. This is very important when scratching cats, as it occurs more often in animals than in humans.
But such products are much more expensive and more difficult to buy. In addition, these products are the least durable. They will last about 2-3 years.
More popular options are made of plastic, plastic and metal. Such models are much cheaper and last a long time. You can find them at any pet store. But animals will like them less.
general description
On the side of the palm, repeating the shape of the fingers, a silicone plate with pimples is sewn.
The brush glove is made of breathable fabric
The scratcher is one universal size, made for right-handed people. Fixed on the wrist with Velcro. Dimensions: 23×17×1.5 cm.
How to choose a comb
When choosing a comb, you should consider several important parameters:
- The thickness of the cat's fur
- Presence of undercoat
- Length of the main hair of the coat
- Danger of fleas
- Personal preferences of the pet: how he likes to be combed and handled.
The basic choice of comb by number for cats is exactly the opposite of that of humans. If for people, the thicker the hair, the rarer the teeth or bristles of the comb should be, then for cats, the opposite is true. The thicker the fur, the more often the comb should be used. This is due to the need to constantly comb out excess hairs.
For short hair, simple bristles or sparse teeth are suitable. One type of comb will be enough. For short coats with abundant, dense undercoat, it is better to choose a model with a blade and sparse teeth.
Those with long hair will need a whole collection of hairdressing accessories. These include wide-toothed combs, slicker brushes, and mittens.
To remove fleas, it is better to use the most common comb.
Advice. An excellent method of fighting fleas is to use a wooden comb and natural essential oils.
Fleas are afraid of strong odors, but cats, on the contrary, like some essential oils. The best oils for this are mint, cedar or pine. It is important to apply only 1-3 drops to the teeth so as not to cause discomfort to the cat.
How to properly use a glove to remove dog hair?
Using a glove (for example Pet Brush Glove) will not cause any difficulties for the animal owner, and will bring a lot of pleasant moments to the dog. After all, it does not scratch the skin, but gently removes excess hair. Putting it on your hand is quite simple, but do not forget that it must be properly secured with Velcro.
The animal should be smoothly stroked from top to bottom, starting from the head. Most dogs like this - they sit quietly, trying to provide the right place for brushing. Some people become concerned if the scratching occurs in the inner thigh area. When a dog growls or gets angry, you need to distract the animal and try again later.
After completing the process, the wool can be easily removed from the glove; you just need to lift it from one edge. Then the glove must be washed with warm water and soap and rinsed well.
How often to use
The use of combs for cats depends again on the length of the fur, on the shedding of the animal and on whether the pet lives only at home or walks outside.
- Most often, it is necessary to comb long-haired animals with a dense undercoat, for example, Persian cats. Their fur is prone to matting. They can be combed 1-2 times a week.
- Most rarely, short-haired cats with sparse hair can be subjected to this procedure. However, it is important to remember that you still need to comb them. It is enough to treat them with a comb once a month.
It is important to accustom your cat to brushing from an early age. Then the kitten will get used to this procedure, and she will even like it. Therefore, in the future there will be no problems with caring for an adult cat.
What to choose: a comb or a comb
Both the brush and the comb are equally important for caring for your pet’s fur. The difference between them is that the scratcher is attached to the wall, door frame, table leg, that is, in the place where the cat often rubs its face or back. A comb is an object that the owner will use to specifically comb out his pet’s fur.
These devices should be used together, since with the help of a comb you can comb the cat in those places where it cannot reach, and with the help of a scratcher the animal can rub itself in those places where it wants it.

Massage effect when combing
Stroking with a glove with a peculiar surface consisting of silicone pimples is a useful procedure that resembles an ordinary massage in its effect on the pet’s body. Blood flow to the skin increases, therefore, the roots of individual hairs receive nutrition, the fur becomes shiny and silky. The growth of new hairs is significantly accelerated. In addition, even when pressed, the glove does not injure the skin and is completely safe.
Caring for snow-white cats
White fur is more difficult to care for. If you neglect it, the fur coat will become yellow and dirty.
Due to the lack of pigment, the hair of white cats is hollow. Because of this, after each wash you need to use a balm or conditioner. During bathing, whitening shampoos for white cats should be applied. It is advisable to leave the detergent for a couple of minutes so that it works better.
In addition to washing, preventing contamination is also important. Clean the house regularly, avoiding areas under the sofa, mezzanine, etc., where the animal can climb. Also teach your pet not to climb where he can get dirty.
The frequency of brushing white cats depends on the thickness and length of the coat. Here the grooming is the same as for long-haired or short-haired breeds.
