Soup with a cat and pies with kittens: 5 countries where they eat cats

Andy Peters, system administrator:

It's okay to eat cat meat. Provided that:

  1. The cat is not listed as a protected or endangered species.
  2. The cat was purchased legally and raised humanely.
  3. The cat was killed and butchered humanely and without suffering.
  4. The cat is not listed as prohibited for consumption in the country where you live.

If you satisfy all four conditions, then it is perfectly acceptable to eat meat from any animal, such as cats, dogs, horses, monkeys.

This way they will get to me. We must run.

I think there is nothing wrong with eating cats.

Eating pets is more of a cultural taboo. Many people are very attached to their pets and attribute to them traits that may not be inherent to these animals (anthropomorphism).

Most countries in the world also have laws against eating cats or dogs.

But in situations where a person is at risk of starvation or there is no other source of meat protein available, people will eat whatever they want.

I will not make a judgment about whether this is right or wrong.

Let the fighters for the protection of animal rights, who have never found themselves in a situation of complete starvation, like many peoples of Asian or African countries, do this.

There's not much meat on a cat. Butchering a cat for such a small amount of cat meat is quite a difficult thing.

Besides, people love their pets, and although you may catch and eat a few from your area, if you keep this up, you will get caught sooner or later too.

And when you are caught, I can say that the owners of the eaten cats will take this issue seriously. Of course, they won’t eat you, but they can beat you.

Why raw meat can be dangerous

The harm of the fresh product is associated with possible infection with helminths and harmful microbes.

These include:

  • Campylobacter lives in the intestines of animals and birds and causes the acute intestinal disorder campylobacteriosis.
  • The “false rabies” virus is contained in pork; when infected, convulsions, paralysis, and itching begin.
  • Escherichia coli , pathogenic strains provoke acute poisoning.
  • Salmonella is more often found in chicken. Bacterial toxins cause vomiting, diarrhea, and dehydration.
  • Brucella enters the body with the milk and meat of sick animals. The bacterium affects nerve cells, blood vessels, and genitourinary organs. Brucellosis is not completely cured.
  • Trichinella is found in pork. After entering the intestines, they penetrate the walls, spread through the bloodstream, and settle in the muscles. Trichinosis is fatal if there are more than 5 larvae per 1 kg of weight in the body.

It is better not to buy products in dubious places where the quality of the goods is not controlled.

How do they eat cats in Russia?

This issue is complicated; no one keeps statistics on cat eating.

But here is a story from personal practice. I live in a private house, I had two cats - Fuhrer, Muller and the cat Bullet.

And then in the spring, when they wanted to take a walk, they began to disappear one after another. The last one to crawl home was Bullet, her legs broken by a trap. They performed an operation on her, but it was not possible to save her; the infection continued.

So the question is - why would anyone set traps for cats?

It is also possible for consumption. I have not found the sadist who does this, but I think the Universe will give him an adequate response to his actions.

Cat Bullet and cat Fuhrer. I loved them very much
