Dry food LEONARDO Adult Light for cats, sterile/neutered. overweight with poultry 758825 (7.5 kg)

Fresh but unclear raw materials

The manufacturer indicates on the label that the animal protein content of the total protein is 85%. It is impossible to check this from the list of ingredients, but there are a lot of animal components here.

The first ingredient of the feed is 30% fresh poultry. On the one hand, it is good that it is fresh - that is, it was not frozen or treated with preservatives, but on the other hand, it is completely unclear what kind of bird served as the raw material for the product.

The second place in the diet is taken by protein isolated from unknown poultry. It is indicated that it is 27% here and that it has a low ash content.

As a review of the Leonardo Kitten Poultry composition shows, there are other sources of animal protein - dried egg, hydrolyzed poultry liver and whey powder. Judging by the place in the roster list, there is not much of each of them in it. Strictly speaking, poultry liver hydrolyzate is more of a flavoring ingredient rather than a complete source of animal protein.

This product also contains herring meal, or more precisely, fish meal from seafish (“fish meal from seafish”). Why the word “herring” crept into the Russian-language description of the composition of “Leonardo” for kittens is unclear. Here this flour is only 2.5%, and we believe that it serves to enhance the palatability of the feed.

Negative reviews

Noname1

The cat ate this food for 2 years, periodically changing the tastes for variety. Everything was great. But then the cat suddenly began to itch and tore his entire face. We are still treating the allergy, we changed the food to something else, and it has gotten better. What this is connected with is unknown.

We would be happy to receive feedback from veterinarians and customers about Leonardo food. When we receive product reviews, we will definitely post them in this section.

Cereal components

There are 2 types of grains in the top five - rice and corn. We believe that grain cannot satisfy the nutritional needs of cats at all, because their bodies are not designed to digest grains. But, at least, I would like to believe that there is not so much grain here, although the proportions of these ingredients are not indicated in the composition list.

Judging by the percentage dosage of the first two components, 57% of the diet consists of animal protein sources. This is a good indicator, but not enough for us to give the food an additional bonus of 5 points.

The presence of 3.8% rye malt is a minus of the diet; we do not consider this sweetener additive necessary or beneficial for kittens. Interestingly, this ingredient is listed as “rye, malted”, but there is no rye as such in the composition.

What kind of food?

German quality has long become a household name. It seems that in this country everyone cares only about reputation. In fact, Bewital GmbH & Co.KG cares about pets. Each cat, in the opinion of management and owners, deserves the best. That is why Leonardo cat food has a strong position in the super premium diet segment.

The scale of production, as well as positioning in a fairly expensive class of feed, allows us to select only the highest quality ingredients. When producing dry diets and wet canned food, Leonardo Bewital takes into account the individual needs of cats of different age categories and includes unique components to ensure their health.

In addition to Leonardo, the company produces Belcando food intended for dogs. The facilities are located in Germany. Compliance with the composition is guaranteed at the state level.

Leonardo Kitten Supplement Review

There is a common belief that kittens need milk. Milk derivatives can sometimes be found in prepared foods, both wet and dry. We tend to consider whey powder, which is present in the composition, as a rather symbolic component. There is very little of it here, and besides, it has been heavily processed.

The only source of animal fat in the feed is poultry fat - not the best ingredient.

Among the useful additives, we can note 2.5% of dried brewer's yeast and crushed krill, as well as the isolated prebiotic inulin.

We also classify dried carob, also known as Tsaregrad pod, as an undesirable sweetener and diet thickener.

The manufacturer indicated in detail on the package the composition of vitamin and mineral supplements, as well as a natural preservative - extracts with a high content of tocopherol. Among the additives we came across “selenium (in the form of sodium selenium)” - in fact, it is sodium selenite. I had to correct this data in the composition.

Positive reviews

I have been buying Leonardo canned food for my cat for a very long time; it is one of her favorite treats. She especially likes those based on liver. The food has a good composition - it contains 65% meat and meat by-products. My cat eats a 200g jar in two doses. Very convenient packaging; there is no need for long-term storage of an open jar. Canned food has a rich meaty smell. They also look decent, the quality is obvious even visually. As for taste, I focus on my cat's reaction, and she always shows an active interest in an open can of food. He eats willingly and with appetite. Therefore, our joint opinion with the cat is that the food is good, we recommend it!

Leonardo food was recommended to us by a veterinarian. The cat has quite sensitive digestion and still needed to lose weight. The cat liked the food and ate it with pleasure. The weight began to decrease, since the food contained a lot of protein and he ate a small amount. The most important thing is that it suits my furry friend and the cat eats it with pleasure.

What can I say about Leonardo Kitten Poultry food?

The food is based on a mixture of two vague sources of animal protein, two grains and animal fat. There are a couple of unwanted additives along with quite useful ones. The composition of the diet, where key animal ingredients are obtained from misty raw materials, does not inspire much confidence, although formally there are relatively many animal protein components.

Due to these shortcomings, the overall rating of Leonardo Kitten Poultry dry food is disappointing, and the diet itself leaves a mixed impression - its rating is relatively low.

Assortment and features of feed

The Leonardo range of dry food is very extensive: there are products for kittens, adult and elderly cats, as well as for overweight, low-activity, and long-haired animals. In addition, grain-free food is produced, which is offered for pets with sensitive digestion and large breed cats. The line of wet food is divided into only two age categories: for kittens and adult animals, but at the same time it has a wide variety of tastes.

Advantages and disadvantages

If we review the reviews, the results obtained characterize Leonardo mainly on the positive side. This is primarily due to:

  • with the notorious “German quality”. Scrupulousness in the control of incoming raw materials and accuracy in following the recipe at the output guarantee balanced nutrition for the cat;
  • positioning among super premium feeds, which guarantees the absence of artificial additives;
  • the presence of not only dry menus for cats, but also canned food.

No matter how good the food is, there will always be shortcomings. Leonardo is no exception:

  • limited selection of canned food, they are not diversified by age categories;
  • there are no foods that take into account the needs of castrated cats, despite the fact that the line contains food for sensitive digestion;
  • no treatment line;
  • not suitable for all cats;
  • traditionally: high price.

    Our cat recently turned one year old and it’s time to switch to adult food. Before this, I had been eating Leonardo for kittens for two months, so the formula for adults was taken from the same brand. And so, we chose Leonardo Adult Complete 32/16, a 400 g pack costs 323 rubles. There are also packaging sizes of 2, 7.5 and 17 kilograms. For those who don’t know, this food belongs to the super premium class and is manufactured in Germany.

    The packaging contains information in Russian and several other languages, which means the food is sold not only in our country. Its composition is decent, without harmful additives, only with natural ingredients. The packaging states that it contains 85% animal protein and 15% plant protein. It is also noted that all ingredients are of high quality and have undergone strict testing under German law.

    The food itself is made in the form of small bagels, with a smell characteristic of cat food. The cat eats it with pleasure, just like the one for kittens. Overall, I think this food is excellent, so I recommend you try it.

    Inna writes:

    Hi all. I bought canned food for my cat at the 4 Paws store and took a jar of Leonardo, Bozita, Mealfeel and Carny to try. In this review I will write about Leonardo, since it was the first to go into use) The price of a jar weighing 190 grams is almost 130 rubles.

    After opening, I discovered the following: the jar was filled to the very top, and the pate itself looked quite appetizing. The German manufacturer claims that it contains 65% meat and offal, and the appearance of the pate seems to be true.

    The cat ate this pate with great pleasure) The price is not too high, the quality is good, the cat likes it - I recommend Leonardo canned food.

    Yana writes:

    My cat is already 7 years old, neutered, lives in an apartment, doesn’t run around much. In such conditions, excess weight is gained every once in a while, so I try to regulate it by choosing the optimal diet. I recently tried the German food Leonardo, in which I was attracted by the design of the packaging.

    The composition is average, for this money you can find better, but for the promotion the price is normal. Ring-shaped granules, about a centimeter in diameter. The smell is not strong. The food is not solid, the cat chews it easily and eats it very appetizingly. While I ate one package of 2 kg, no problems were found.
