No cat can benefit from periodically taking a rich multivitamin complex. Such drugs are especially useful for weakened animals and those who are prone to pathologies or often find themselves in stressful situations. Let's find out why veterinarians often recommend Hemobalance to cat owners as a preventive and therapeutic agent.
Composition and properties
Hemobalance is produced in the form of a clear, brown liquid. It is packaged in dark glass bottles. The drug is a complex of vitamins, amino acids and minerals. It contains the following vitamins:
- Riboflavin (vitamin B2). Stimulates the functioning of the nervous system, necessary for growth and development. If there is a deficiency, the animal experiences hair loss, problems with vision and development.
- Choline (vitamin B4). Normalizes liver function, thereby preventing obesity of this organ.
- Pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6). Positively affects the functioning of the nervous system. If the body does not have enough of this vitamin, the animal may have seizures and skin diseases.
- Inositol (vitamin B8). The substance participates in metabolic processes and has a positive effect on the condition of the coat and skin.
- Nicotinamide (vitamin PP). Participates in metabolism. It has a beneficial effect on the functioning of the digestive system and the condition of the epidermis. Has antiallergic effect.
- Biotin (vitamin H). Participates in protein, fat, carbohydrate metabolism.
The minerals included in the composition help replenish the reserves of iron, copper, and other micro- and macroelements. Amino acids have the following effect:
- L-lysine hydrochloride improves the absorption of phosphorus and calcium, participates in the formation of bone tissue and hematopoietic processes, and normalizes the functioning of the reproductive system.
- Glycine improves memory and has a positive effect on the nervous system, stabilizes the mental state.
- DL methionine participates in metabolic processes, normalizes kidney function, improves appetite and the absorption of nutrients.
The use of Hemobalance helps increase immunity and endurance. The drug stimulates growth and development, accelerates tissue regeneration and strengthens the immune system. It helps prevent the effects of stress and recover faster from illness.
Indications for use
According to the instructions for use, Hemobalance for cats can be used as part of complex therapy in the following cases:
- for viral infections;
- for helminthic infestations;
- with anemia;
- for allergies of various origins;
- in case of poisoning;
- for skin diseases;

Note! Hemobalance is recommended for kittens that are developmentally delayed.
Also, a vitamin-mineral remedy is used for stress (transportation, going to the veterinarian, departure of the owner, etc.), vaccination to form lasting immunity against viral diseases and prolonged molting. The drug is often used to improve health and during preparation for exhibitions or competitions.

If the medicine is used for prophylactic purposes, 1-2 injections per week are sufficient. If used in combination with other medications for treatment, then the number of injections is increased to 3 per week.
Note! If your pet’s condition does not improve within 7-10 days of using Hemobalance, you should consult a doctor. Usually additional examination and adjustments to treatment are required.
A single dose of the drug is calculated taking into account the weight:

Advantages and disadvantages
Among the main advantages of Hemobalance, it is worth noting the following:
- Safety. The medicine does not cause side effects or allergic reactions.
- Wide spectrum of action. The medicinal liquid has a positive effect on the functioning of internal organs, restores metabolic processes, strengthens the immune system, etc.
- Can be used without restrictions. Suitable for both small and large pets, regardless of weight, breed and age.
- Versatility. Can be used for prevention and treatment of various health problems.
- Efficiency. The results of use are usually noticeable after 1-2 injections.
Minor disadvantages include the dosage form. Some owners find it difficult to give injections to their pets. Hemobalance has no other disadvantages.
Analogues of Hemobalance
Despite the fact that domestic and foreign pharmaceutical companies offer consumers a wide range of vitamin and mineral complexes, it is impossible to find a complete structural analogue of Hemobalance among these drugs. Therefore, if the drug is not available on pharmacy shelves or due to the presence of contraindications to its use, cat owners turn to veterinary drugs with a similar therapeutic effect - functional analogues of Hemobalance.
Functional analogues of the drug:
- Gamavit;
- Duphalight;
- Vittri-1;
- Polydex Gelabon with glucosamine;
- Katozal.
All of the above multivitamin complexes are not interchangeable drugs, since each of them has a number of contraindications and side effects. Even though they are available without a prescription, only a veterinarian can decide whether to replace one product with another.

Personally, I have never had to use various kinds of multivitamin complexes for my cat, including Hemobalance. But my mother regularly uses Catozal as a prophylactic for broiler chickens. She dilutes the drug in water and feeds the resulting medicine to the bird. She has been using this drug for more than five years. There were no side effects during this time. As she says, the quality of the drug fully justifies its rather high cost.

What is the price
The medicine is available in bottles of 5 and 100 ml; for cats it is wiser to buy small containers. The price of Hemobalance depends on the volume of the bottle:
- 5 ml – 230-250 rub.;
- 100 ml – 2800-3000 rub.
It makes sense to purchase a large bottle only when keeping several animals. The vitamin and mineral product is sold in almost all veterinary pharmacies, so there are usually no problems with the purchase. You can also order it on the Internet.

Owner reviews
Anastasia, owner of a 2-year-old cat:
“For a long time they could not cure herpes on a cat’s lip. The treatment prescribed by the doctor did not help, it only slightly relieved the symptoms, which after a couple of days returned again and again. Three weeks of unsuccessful struggle, until a friend recommended Hemobalance. After just two injections, Margosha’s condition improved, and after a 2-week course there was no trace of herpes left.”
Marina, owner of 2 cats and a dog:
“I first learned about the drug when our dog fell ill with piroplasmosis. This drug was part of complex therapy and helped save Bars. Later I found out that it can also be used for cats. I often use it during childbirth and for small kittens. I noticed that cats recover faster if they are injected with these vitamins. A good remedy. Now we always have it in our veterinary medicine cabinet.”
Nikolay, breeder of British cats:
“I regularly use Hemobalance for adult cats and kittens. The drug helps to avoid developmental problems and strengthens the immune system. I noticed that for 2 years, while I was using the medicine, the animals practically did not get sick. In addition, the panleukopenia epidemic has bypassed us.”
Adverse reactions
Usually Hemobalance does not cause unwanted effects even with long-term use. However, allergic reactions are possible if the dog initially had hypersensitivity to the components of the vitamin complex. During the drip or after the first injection, it is necessary to monitor the pet’s condition. Signs of allergies are:
- swelling of the muzzle;
- labored breathing;
- loss of appetite;
- lethargy;
- inability to respond to the owner's commands.
If the dog does have an allergic reaction, Diphenhydramine or Suprastin should be administered intramuscularly. For mild side effects, an antihistamine can be given in tablet form (Diprazine, Suprastin, Diazolin). In the case when the allergic reaction turns into anaphylactic shock, it is better to give an intramuscular injection of Hydrocortisone, Dexone or Dexamethasone.
If after 15 minutes the unwanted symptoms do not go away, the antiallergic drug is given again, and an injection of ascorbic acid is also given along with Immunofan.
