Life stories

There are originals who take ideas from car catalogs. So one owner really liked the name of the creator of the Ford car - Carol Shelby, and two puppies named Carol and Shelby appeared in their house.

Other weirdos even decided to name their pets using slightly profanity. Their dogs' names were Kurva and Shelma, and there was so much fun when not only the dogs came running to the owner's call, but passers-by also turned around.

And someone decided to name the chabut and hyperactive puppy Samurai. True, after a while it turned out that the Samurai was a girl and they had to rename her in the oriental manner to Geisha.

A funny name for a dog is the key to a good mood

Since a sense of humor is sometimes the engine of life, funny names for dogs arise naturally from optimistic owners. It is generally accepted that funny nicknames are only suitable for dogs of small breeds: Yorkies, lapdogs, toy terriers, pugs. But even large dogs have every right to have a cool dog name. Of course, the names for small dogs and large animals should be different from each other.

Funny dogs require the same name

You should not call a husky, alabai, commander, French hound, large bulldog, for example, Pupsiki, Marshmallows, Masikas. Obviously, such nicknames are not suitable for them. But you can also choose funny names for these dogs: iPhone, Repost, Lady. The color, breed, and character of the puppy will help you make your choice.

Note! For mongrel puppies, it is better to choose a neutral name, because it is unknown what the animal will become when it grows up. Some names will sound ridiculous.

Popular and rare dog names

Popular nicknames for male dogs are often borrowed from foreign languages or favorite TV series, films and books. Many of them are distinguished by their euphony and meaningful meaning, but most owners use them. Having named your shepherd Rex, don’t even doubt that several more four-legged commissars will come running to your call in a busy park. Not everyone will be a shepherd, but that’s a completely different story.

With rare nicknames such problems do not arise, but here it is important not to get into trouble with the meaning. Dubious foreign words often sound dignified, but completely harmless ones, due to their consonance with their Russian counterparts, sound offensive and humiliating. For this reason, it is worth considering not only the direct translation, but also the very perception of the word in your country.

How to accustom a kitten to a name?

Let's assume that the nickname has already been chosen. A difficult but necessary stage begins - accustoming the pet to its name. At the same time, it is important not to change the chosen nickname during training: this will only confuse the baby.

All family members should participate in training: this way the process will go much faster. Using the same words and phrases when addressing a kitten, the same type of his favorite treat - all this is beneficial when memorizing a name.

It should be taken into account that the psychology of cats is different than that of dogs. The cat will not try to please, counting on affection, so you need to act differently with it. Bribe your pet! A tasty treat is the best reward. Determine in advance which treats your pet is partial to, and use them in the training process:

  • wait until the baby gets hungry;
  • take a treat in your hand;
  • call the kitten by name so that it comes over;
  • give away the treat.

If the kitten is still too small, then the name can be alternated with the traditional “kitty-kitty”, but without fanaticism. You need to address him using his nickname at every opportunity - for example, when you pet him or feed him.

An important point: do not call the kitten by name when you reprimand him for his misbehavior! He will remember the negative association and will not respond to the nickname.

The name for a cat should be associated only with something pleasant, then it will be more willing to respond to the call. A good way is to say the nickname during the game, when giving a treat, during a conversation. Never deceive a kitten: if you call him to give him a treat, be sure to give him the treat.

A week after the start of classes, you can complicate the task: call the kitten from other rooms, from the street (if it is a private house). Gradually give up “kiss-kitty” and gestures: the kitten should gradually refuse additional “stimulation” and respond only to the call.

We strongly do not recommend pronouncing a nickname with a negative intonation: cats perfectly capture the emotional background, and negative emotions in the owner’s voice can frighten the animal. If a kitten is poorly trained, this may not only be due to its stubbornness. It is worth taking your baby to the vet to rule out hearing problems.

On average, it will take a kitten a couple of weeks to remember its name. An adult cat will need a little more time.
