Rules for transporting cats by plane in Russia and the world

Is it possible to take a cat on board an airplane?

Some airlines allow you to bring pets into the cabin, others do not. Therefore, it is necessary to find out the rules of the selected carrier in advance. Cats can only be transported inside the cabin if accompanied by a legally capable adult, in a special carrier or container. There can be no more than two cats in the container at the same time, the total weight of which must be 8 kilograms. Therefore, it is unlikely that you will be able to take two adult cats with you, but two kittens or a cat with a kitten is quite possible.

Risks when transporting a cat

Things like flying are a rare occurrence in the life of a domestic cat, and, of course, there is a high probability of stressful, even risky situations occurring. How to transport a cat on a plane with a minimum of risk?

In the cabin

  • The cat meows loudly and is hysterical

Constantly let the animal feel that you are nearby, you will not go anywhere, you will not abandon him. An option is to move the cat from the carrier to a special chest bag, sling. There he can feel calmer. Or just hold it in your arms;

  • The cat may wet itself and slobber

In addition to the diaper at the bottom of the carrier, you need to have a few extra diapers and wipes with you. You can immediately put pet diapers on your cat.

In the luggage compartment

Of course, you will not be able to influence the solution of force majeure during the flight of a cat in the luggage compartment. But preventing them is a matter of first importance!

  • The carrier may be sent on another flight by mistake;
  • The carrier can be treated like a regular suitcase: pushed, thrown, etc.;
  • The luggage compartment may not be heated.

Do everything on your part to make your pet’s flight as comfortable as possible!

Rules for transporting cats on planes and in luggage

During the flight, there can be from 2 to 5 animals in the cabin, it all depends on the requirements of the air carrier. Therefore, you should inform yourself about your desire to take your pet on board in advance, when booking your ticket. In addition, cats can only be transported on a passenger plane if there are no dogs on board.

It is prohibited to place a container with an animal on an empty passenger seat. You can hold it on your lap or place it on the floor under the chair in front of you. It is also prohibited to place the container in places that impede access to the emergency exit.

During the flight, you should not let your cat out of the container, since it is impossible to predict its behavior in a stressful situation.

Some air carriers allow animals to be transported on planes exclusively in the luggage compartment. It is worth taking care that the cat does not freeze: put warm bedding on the bottom of the carrier, and dress your pet in a suit. The container itself can be placed in a fabric bag that allows air to pass through so that the pet is less worried.

Toilet while traveling

During the trip, the cat will also go to the toilet in a carrier. The tray is not placed in the carrier, but an absorbent napkin is placed on the bottom. The trouble is that not all cats can go to the toilet so easily: some begin to rush around the cage, begging to be let out. But sooner or later, if it’s really hot, everyone still gives up.

Before departure, it is better not to feed the cat heavily, so as not to have to clean up the shit. You can feed during the flight, but not much. But access to water must be constant.

What is important to know when booking?

When booking a ticket, be sure to inquire about the rules for transporting animals of the selected airline, since they differ for all carriers. What you definitely need to find out:

  • are there any restrictions regarding the transportation of animals;
  • what documents are required to transport cats;
  • find out where the cat will be during the flight;
  • what are the requirements for carrying;
  • transportation cost.

In addition, be sure to find out how many animals are allowed on board the plane and obtain permission from the airline to transport a cat. If you are traveling in the luggage compartment, you can obtain permission after purchasing your ticket. In the case of a cabin flight, permission must be obtained before purchasing a ticket.

If you are planning an international flight, it is important to find out the rules for importing animals by the country to which the passenger is flying. Some countries prohibit the import of animals into their territory or provide for quarantine, which can last from 3 days to six months.

Having found out all the nuances in advance, it is important to notify the airline employee at least 36 hours before the flight of your desire to fly with a cat.

How to buy a plane ticket for a dog, cat or other animal

First, make sure that the airline allows you to carry your pet. The most reliable way to transport a specific pet is directly to the carrier.

Select a date and flight, and before purchasing , call the airline and ask if you can bring your pet. Airlines have restrictions on the number of animals on a flight: for example, no more than two cages can fly in the S7 cabin at a time. Antagonistic animals, for example, a cat and a dog, may be denied transportation in the same cabin. This means that if another passenger has already informed the airline that they will fly with a dog in their hand luggage, then they will offer to check your cat in their luggage.

If transportation is given the go-ahead, then buy a ticket and immediately call the airline back to coordinate the transportation of the animal. The deadline for such a call is 36–72 hours before the flight departure (depending on the airline), but it is better not to delay so that other passengers do not take up the pet quota. The call center will either immediately confirm the transport of the animal or call you back in a day or two.

“I usually book a ticket without paying, then call the airline and say that I’m flying with a dog. Having received confirmation that the quota for animals has not been selected, I buy the ticket and call again to get final permission to transport.”

Traveler Sergei Markovsky, who often flies with his Airedale terrier Arto

How and by when you need to pay for transporting an animal, check with the call center. You may be asked to pay at the airport at a special ticket office during check-in, in advance on the airline’s website, or by phone via a voice menu.

Documents for transporting a cat in Russia

The rules for transporting cats on an airplane across Russian territory require the following documents:

  1. The cat must have a veterinary passport with records of all necessary vaccinations.

  2. A veterinary health certificate is required (form No. 1).

  3. Some airlines require a microchipping certificate.

    Help about chipping

The certificate is issued at any veterinary clinic 5 days before the flight and is the cat’s main document.

After checking the documents, the carrier stamps the certificate and issues a boarding pass to the accompanying person.

Documents required for transportation of live domestic animals and birds

Please note that some countries have very strict restrictions or even a ban on the import of animals, so we recommend that you inquire in advance about the rules for importing them into the destination country and obtain documents confirming that they are healthy.

Air transport will transport your animals on the condition that you take full responsibility for the health of your pet. The airline is not responsible for bodily injury, illness or death of animals, as well as in case of refusal to transport them across the border during an international flight.

The passenger is required to provide a certificate issued by the competent government agency and other documents required by the veterinary authorities of any country to/from or through the territory of which transportation is carried out.

On domestic flightsOn international flights
— Veterinary certificate form No. 1, issued by the city veterinary institution. — International veterinary certificate, issued on the basis of a veterinary certificate and registered with the veterinary service of the border control point;

— Certificate of breeding value of the animal for export;

— Documents required by the veterinary authorities of the country of arrival or transit.

Documents for taking a cat abroad

Crossing the border with a cat is an extremely troublesome task, bringing considerable stress to both the owner and the animal. Many countries are not loyal to the import of pets, even if they behave absolutely calmly, fearing dangerous diseases and parasites.

In addition to the documents required for domestic flights, you also need to complete the following:

  • international veterinary certificate (passport);

  • a certificate indicating breeding value or lack thereof;
  • a certificate indicating that the animal is microchipped (required here).

When booking air tickets, you need to find out from the carrier additional details regarding receiving a cat at the end of the flight.

Cost of transporting a cat on an airplane

The service for transporting animals is paid, regardless of how the cat will travel - in the cabin with the owner or in the luggage compartment with suitcases.

How much it costs to fly a cat depends on the following factors:

  • dimensions and weight of the container with the animal;
  • flight range and duration;
  • airline fares.

Payment for the cat's flight is made at the airport before the flight according to the excess baggage allowance. In this case, the cost is calculated as for a first class flight, even if the animal flies in the luggage compartment.

All airlines have their own tariffs for transporting animals. On average, for a cat weighing about 4 kg, you will have to pay from 50 to 100 euros for a flight from Moscow to Kyiv. However, some companies do not take into account the flight distance; the price is calculated solely on the weight of the animal.

Transportation of animals by air. How dogs and cats cope with flying in the luggage compartment

Transporting animals on an airplane is an exciting experience for everyone.
But stress can be reduced. There are horror stories on the Internet about frost on cages and pneumonia in dogs and cats after a flight in luggage. This is nonsense: the luggage compartments in which animals are transported are ventilated and heated. The climate is not a resort, but at least +10–15 °C will be provided, and sometimes +25 °C happens. The exact temperature depends on the aircraft model and can be obtained from the airline customer service. Alert owners already on board ask the senior flight attendant to confirm that the heating is turned on in the luggage compartment.

But it is true that animals get nervous and sometimes fall into real panic in an unfamiliar place without their owners. Many are lucky, and in the darkness or dim light of the luggage compartment, their faithful friends calm down and fall asleep. In other cases, the pet howls the entire flight and by hook or by crook breaks out of the cage.

How to calm your dog or cat before a flight

In order for your dog or cat to endure the flight more calmly, it is worth preparing them well in advance. Six months in advance, or even earlier, buy a carrier that meets the airline's requirements, put a cozy, familiar bedding and toys in it - it should become a favorite corner, not a detention cell. Let the animal get used to the cage at home.

Many people use sedatives and/or sleeping pills to transport animals in luggage. Be careful with them: on the one hand, the animal is less afraid, and on the other, no one knows how the introduced substances will affect the body during overload. This is a case where it is easy to cause harm, so be sure to consult your veterinarian about medications and, if possible, use proven products to which your pet has no adverse reactions. Place a sticker on the container with the name of the product, dose and time of administration.

Some veterinarians believe that it is worth giving your dog or cat mild herbal sedatives like “Fitex” or “Kot Bayun” 7-10 days in advance, and not giving or injecting anything on the day of the flight. Discuss the exact regimen with your doctor.

“There was a veterinary service at the airport that you could contact with a request to inject the animal with sleeping pills for the duration of the flight. We contacted us in advance, so by the time we arrived, a doctor was already waiting for us with a syringe at the ready. We checked our flight, estimated the time, and the doctor assured that the dog would definitely sleep even longer than the flight. They injected me - and then the flight began to be postponed. First for two hours, then for another three, in the end we took off 8 hours later.

When it became clear that there definitely wouldn’t be enough anesthesia (our flight lasted 10 hours), we found the same veterinarian, but he, naturally, refused to add more. As a result, the dog woke up at the beginning of the flight and spent another 8 hours in a cage in the luggage compartment. Then it turned out that with her teeth she bent the metal bars of the cage, half a finger thick, and tore the mattress into small shreds. Before the flight, she was a tender and emotional young lady. And at the arrival airport we received an inappropriate hysteria - forever.”

Stanislava Evminova shared her sad experience of flying with a dog

Don't be scared! More often than not, everything goes well: read a story with a happy ending about flying with a dog to Samui and look at the inspiring photos published by Irina Goldman, who has traveled halfway around the world with her husky named Space.

“Space has been traveling since he was 4 months old, and in the last year alone we have had 20 flights. She is my best friend, and I am sure that a dog left without an owner for two weeks is more stressed than a few hours in the luggage compartment. Before the first flight, to make her feel comfortable, I trained her to crate. Now there are always favorite treats and a blanket there. I don't give you a sedative. Space is already used to it and can easily handle even transatlantic flights.”

Traveler Irina Goldman

Carrying requirements

The carrier does not provide carriers for transporting cats on the plane, so the owner must take care of this himself. In the cabin of an airplane, a cat can be transported either in a durable bag with a hard bottom or in a shipping container. The bottom must be covered with absorbent material (this can be an absorbent diaper) that does not allow moisture to pass through, and the container itself must have dimensions of no more than 45x35x25 cm.

If the flight is planned in the luggage compartment, then transportation of the cat is allowed only in the container. In this case, the size of the container should allow the animal to straighten up to its full height and rotate freely around its axis.

The doors of the container must close tightly so that a nervous animal cannot accidentally open them. Sometimes airport staff ask you to remove the animal from the container for inspection. To make this easier, it is advisable for the container to have a removable top.

The cat carrier should be well ventilated and not have sharp corners so that the cat feels comfortable and does not accidentally get injured. There should also be a side around the perimeter of the bottom and a compartment for water and food.

Requirements for cages for air transportation

The choice of carrier must be approached very responsibly. If during domestic flights the requirements for containers are not too stringent, then international transportation requires a special container that meets IATA standards - without it, the animal may not be taken on board.

Have you ever transported a cat on an airplane?

Not really

Rules for traveling with an animal. Required Documentation

If you are flying by plane in Russia or beyond its borders, find out the conditions for transporting a cat:

  1. For foreign destinations, it is necessary to clarify the requirements regarding the importation of animals into the destination country.
  2. Documents required for transporting a cat across the Russian Federation and abroad.
  3. Does this airline restrict the transportation of animals?
  4. Amount of surcharge: after all, the cat will be considered excess baggage.
  5. How many animals can be placed on board the aircraft in the cabin and cargo compartment.
  6. The conditions that a transport container must provide for a cat, and the requirements for the container itself.

The rules and regulations for transporting cats on an airplane in Russia and abroad oblige you to inform the airline about flying with your pet earlier than 36 hours before the plane departs.
Some airlines require you to call 48 hours in advance (S7). You will be asked about the weight of your pets including the carrier and the dimensions of the container. If company regulations allow for choice, you must answer where you prefer to take your cat: in the cabin or in the cargo hold. It is allowed to take pet carriers of regulated weight and dimensions into the cabin.

Regardless of the location of the pet, you must pay for its transportation. The only exception is a guide dog - it is muzzled and carried free of charge in the aircraft cabin.

After contacting the contact center and agreeing on the transportation of the animal, you will be given permission to fly with the cat and informed of the place of transportation.

Is it possible to transport a cat unaccompanied?

The unaccompanied cat transportation service is provided by many airlines. The animal travels on a passenger plane unaccompanied in a specially equipped heated compartment to avoid injury or hypothermia.

What documents are needed to transport an unaccompanied cat:

  • a copy of the sender's ID;
  • original veterinary passport of the animal, with notes on required vaccinations;
  • veterinary certificate of the cat.

The cost of such a flight is paid at a double rate; the dimensions and weight of the container along with the animal are taken into account.

How much does it cost to bring a dog or cat on a plane?

Ready for takeoff!
Animals are not included in baggage allowance and are not carried free of charge by any airline.

Only guide dogs accompanying blind or deaf passengers and service dogs, and sometimes psychological support dogs, fly without additional payment.

Payment for other pets depends on the airline and comes in two types: fixed and by weight. Weigh the animal along with the container.

How to prepare a cat for flight?

To transport your pet cat on an airplane with minimal stress, it is recommended that you start preparing it for travel a few days in advance. To do this, he should be introduced in advance to the container in which he will be transported.

Veterinarians do not recommend giving your animal any sedatives. Indeed, during takeoff and landing, due to pressure changes in the atmosphere, the animal’s heart muscle experiences additional stress, and the presence of sleeping pills in the blood aggravates its condition.

To make the cat feel calmer, it is recommended to put something taken from home into the container: a favorite toy or the bedding on which he slept. Feeling familiar smells, he will be less nervous.

However, some animals experience enormous stress during travel, and without sedatives the cat will have a hard time. She will meow and rush around the carrier throughout the flight, causing inconvenience to the flying passengers. You should definitely consult with your veterinarian to choose the safest remedy to help reduce anxiety and restlessness in your animal.

Worming and rabies vaccination

In order to freely transport a cat or kitten by plane, the animal must be vaccinated against rabies and dewormed. These requirements are common to all air carriers, and without their fulfillment, a cat will not be allowed on board a passenger airliner.

Before being vaccinated against rabies, the cat is given anthelmintic drugs, so this stage cannot be avoided. Two weeks after deworming, the animal can be vaccinated against rabies.

In order for the airline to approve the flight, the vaccination must be at least 30 days old. It follows from this that you need to start preparing your cat for the flight no later than 1.5 months before the planned departure date. Kittens can be vaccinated no earlier than two months, therefore younger individuals cannot be transported. However, some carriers allow unvaccinated kittens to fly in the same cage with a vaccinated mother.

Should I feed and water my cat before the plane and during the flight?

The day before the departure of the flight, it is recommended to reduce the daily diet by half, and 5-6 hours before completely limiting the animal’s food intake, giving only water. This is done to prevent the cat from going to the toilet in the container, since the smell of feces will cause dissatisfaction among passengers. Animals, like people, can get motion sickness during a flight, and a full stomach can provoke vomiting.

After the plane takes off, you can treat your pet with dry cat treats to distract his attention from the surrounding reality and help him relax. If the flight is long, you need to take with you dry food, which the cat usually eats, and give it to your pet in small portions. In addition, wet food is not allowed in hand luggage, according to the airline's rules.

Often, transporting restless cats on an airplane can cause their body temperature to rise, so there must be drinking water in the carrier or a special drinking bottle for the accompanying person.

How much does transportation cost?

Transportation of animals by airliners must be paid for, including transportation of cats on the plane. Tariffs vary between carriers. In some airlines, the fee is determined by the weight of the cat, in others the cost of transportation is fixed.

Transporting a cat within the Russian Federation will cost 3,750 rubles, on international flights - 75 EUR/USD.

Traveling by plane is a challenge for a cat. An unknown smell, pressure changes, loud sounds will make even the most fearless animal feel uncomfortable. However, with the right preparation, you can make the flight less stressful for your cat.

Receiving cats after a flight

Usually there are no problems getting your pet. Airlines that allow the carriage of cats issue animals separately from other baggage, at a special counter. If there is no such counter at the airport, then containers with animals are sent to the general baggage belt, but not mixed with suitcases, but placed in front of them.

If at the end of the flight you plan to transfer to another plane, you need to ask the airport staff to give you a carrier with your cat, otherwise he will be with your luggage the entire time.

An airport employee must check the documents for transporting the cat and inspect the animal. This procedure is paid and will cost approximately 30 euros.

General rules

It doesn’t matter whether it’s a dog, a cat or a bird - the main thing is that the pet fits in a carrier and is on your airline’s list of animals allowed for carriage.

Get comprehensive vaccinations

At the time of planning a trip (it does not matter, within the country or abroad), the animal must have comprehensive vaccinations, deworming and microchipping. At the veterinary clinic you need to obtain an international veterinary passport, which will contain notes about these procedures.

Make sure the vaccines your pet is receiving are approved by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale. And remember: after the rabies vaccination and between the day of departure, 30 days must pass. Therefore, plan your trip in advance.

Find out the airline's rules for transporting animals

Typically, you can take your pet with you to the salon under the following conditions:

  • the weight of the pet together with the container is no more than 8 kg;
  • the dimensions of a rigid carrier in length, width and height do not exceed 44×30×26 cm;
  • The size of a soft closed-type carrying bag in the sum of three dimensions does not exceed 126 cm.

You will need a blanket or cape made of breathable fabric to cover the carrier: for your pet, the airport and the flight itself will be very stressful. You may also need wet wipes, some food and water. If you are transporting a bird, be sure to cover the carrier to prevent the animal from making noise.

The maximum carrying dimensions may vary between airlines, so it is better to check them on the official website or by phone.

If the dimensions do not fit into this standard, you will have to check the animal into the luggage compartment. An exception may be a service dog or guide dog: they can be taken into the salon, but only if they have documents confirming their status (usually the carriage of such animals is free).

Remember that flying in the luggage compartment is not only stressful for the animal, but also a potential danger: there have been many cases where pets suffocated from lack of oxygen. Therefore, carefully weigh the pros and cons before taking such a step.

When bringing a pet into the United States at the airport, you may be asked to undergo additional checks, for example, asking about the pet's favorite treat or checking for water, measuring the carrier with a tape measure (if the staff decides there is too little space, you may face a fine), or being required to release your pet in order to make sure that you are its owner.

Also, when entering the United States with a pet, you need to be prepared to answer any question from your veterinary passport (and yes, it must have a photo of the pet and in English).

Sometimes when importing an animal to other countries, the results of additional blood tests are needed. Therefore, it is very important to study the requirements on the website of the official department of the country of import.

Buy a ticket

But first, call the airline and find out if it is possible to transport your pet on the flight you have chosen. If so, buy a ticket for yourself, call the airline again and reserve a seat in the cabin for your pet (usually the number of animals on board is limited). The animal will sit at your feet. You will buy a ticket for him on the spot, at the airport.

Receive a veterinary certificate form No. 1 five days before the flight

When your pet goes through quarantine after vaccinations (after 30 days), go along with him and his veterinary passport to a state veterinary clinic no earlier than five days before the trip to receive a veterinary certificate of form No. 1. This cannot be done in a regular veterinary clinic: the organization must have license to issue such a certificate.

The pet will be examined and you will receive a certificate stating that the animal comes from an area where no cases of rabies have been reported, and that the animal is vaccinated, microchipped and treated in accordance with international standards. The document must also indicate the person with whom the pet is traveling.

The certificate is valid for five days. Before going to a state veterinary clinic, it is better to call there and find out what tests are needed. Sometimes doctors require you to take a test for worms.

The veterinary passport must also contain a note stating that the pet is healthy and has the right to travel: the necessary vaccinations have been completed and quarantine has been completed.

Notify the airport veterinary service that you are flying with an animal.

This is a safety net and many people don't do it. But just in case, you can call or send a letter there 3-5 days before the flight so that the necessary employee will be present to examine the pet. Also, write a letter (in English) to the veterinary control of the airport of the country of entry 15 days in advance. There is no specific template, just indicate the date, flight and that you will be arriving with your pet. To find out the required email address, you can call the country's embassy or look up the information on its website.

Arrive at the airport early

If you are flying abroad, it is better to arrive four hours before departure. If you are flying within the Russian Federation, then 2–3 hours will be enough. You will be asked to remove your pet from the carrier for inspection: you must carry the animal through the metal detector frame on a leash or carry it in your arms. But if the animal is in panic and cannot be removed from the carrier, request alternative methods of inspection and control.

After screening at the airport entrance, visit the veterinary service room

Specialists will examine the animal, check the certificate and veterinary passport. If you travel within the Russian Federation, a stamp is placed on the veterinary certificate (valid for five days, after this period you will have to obtain a new certificate and go through the procedure again). When flying abroad, veterinary service employees will collect the certificate and in exchange will issue a certificate of form No. 5a in English, valid for 90 days.

On European routes, in addition to the veterinary certificate of form No. 5a, you will be given an EU veterinary certificate (European certificate). Certificate No. 5a is not asked for abroad; it is only needed to return home. A European certificate is required to enter Europe. To speed up the process, you can print and fill out the necessary certificates in advance, and only have them certified at the airport. Just in case, take several copies with you, including blank ones.

Go to the airline counter and purchase a ticket for your pet.

After screening and receiving all stamps, proceed to the passenger check-in counter. Let us know whether you are taking your pet with you into the cabin or placing it in the luggage compartment: this determines the choice of the counter where you will be directed to pay extra for a place for the animal. After check-in, check in your luggage.

As we said above, if the carrier does not meet the airline’s requirements, you will not be able to take your pet with you into the cabin. In this case, be sure to warn the captain or stewards that there is an animal on board. They will take the necessary measures, for example, turning on the heating in the luggage compartment.

During the flight and baggage claim, follow the general rules

In the cabin, stewards must provide you with an additional strap to attach the carrier to your seat belt. During the flight, you must not let your pet out of the carrier or feed it.

A service dog or guide dog must be muzzled, collared and on a leash next to you throughout the flight. It is prohibited to place your pet on the seat or in the area of someone else's passenger seat.

Upon arrival at your destination airport, if your pet was flying in the luggage compartment, look for it on or near the luggage belt.

After picking up your luggage, proceed with your pet to the airport veterinary service office.

How does a cat cope with flying?

Approximately 7–12% of cats survive the flight completely asymptomatically and feel well upon arrival. In most cases, the cat still gets stressed, which is manifested by apathy and lethargy, refusal to eat, frequent urination, and reluctance to make contact with the owner. In 90% of cases, all symptoms disappear without a trace after 2–5 days, and the cat finds peace of mind.

If your cat is overly emotional, she may become very frightened during the flight, especially if she has to travel in the luggage compartment. Therefore, you should take this step only as a last resort. The consequences of the stress suffered will forever leave an imprint on the animal’s personality. If the trip is planned for a short period, it is better to ask loved ones to visit the cat at home without injuring it from the flight.

Breeds with flat faces (Persian cats) do not tolerate pressure changes that cannot be avoided during the flight. They may even suffocate, which is why some airlines categorically refuse to transport animals of these breeds, even with all the certificates.

Cats experience the greatest discomfort during takeoff and landing: due to changes in atmospheric pressure, their heartbeat and breathing become more frequent, and profuse salivation is observed. In order to somehow distract your pet from unpleasant sensations, you need to try to concentrate his attention on something else. For example, wet the fur on his paws or face to make him lick himself.

In general, cats on an airplane feel confident during the flight and recover quickly once they find themselves in a calm environment. Having a loving owner nearby during the flight will reduce stress, so it is better to choose an airline that allows pets in the cabin.

Preparing your pet for flight

Transporting a cat on an airplane requires mandatory preliminary preparation of the pet. 4 hours before departure you should not give him food, but you can give him water. A container of water is placed in the container; it is allowed to put some entertainment for the pet there.

Important! You should not give sedatives without a veterinarian's prescription.

It is important to accustom your cat to a carrier bag in advance to save him from unnecessary stress. Some inexperienced owners force cats into a container, which is why the animal becomes afraid almost immediately. It is important that the pet perceives everything that happens as a game, which is why they introduce the bag at home, leaving it open and giving the cat the opportunity to examine it. After this, you can take the animal outside in the same container to make sure it is safe. Only after such preparation can you choose an airline and book a ticket.

It is recommended to have with you:

  • garbage bags;
  • wet wipes;
  • water and dry food to feed and drink your pet upon arrival;
  • disposable diapers;
  • disinfectant to get rid of unpleasant odors.

Note! Some carriers refuse to transport kittens under 4 months of age, that is, the age when animals can receive the necessary vaccinations. To avoid troubles, this point must be clarified before booking a ticket.
