Reviews of Pronature cat food
Tamara: “My cat is a very picky eater and choosing food for her is incredibly difficult. We tried to feed her natural food, tried a lot of ready-made food - the cat did not eat, and if she did eat, it was without appetite. Through trial and error we came to Pronature. My princess looked favorably at the Canadian food. We’re still finishing the first package of food, but I think I’ll order again.”
Maria: “My mistake was to take the middle package right away. Initially, I myself didn’t like the look of the food – it was somehow not dry and not crispy. My fears were confirmed - the cat did not eat Pronature. More precisely, he will “peck” at a few granules, but the rest has to be thrown away. I'm trying to mix dry kibble into wet food, but it doesn't work. Then the cat is not there at all. Maybe, by the way, this is good and means that the manufacturer does not mix substances that attract cats into the food, but I will not keep my pet on a starvation diet.”
Georgy: “We have two cats in our family, both of them were sterilized. After the operation, their taste preferences changed and both of them refused their usual food. We have been eating Pronature for six months now and I like the results so far - the cats have become fluffier, their fur is shiny, their stool is full and smells normal. I will recommend him to others with a clear conscience.”
Feed class
Pronature Original food belongs to the class of holistic food, which means compliance with certain rules, namely:
- use of high-quality meat and offal;
- lack of vegetable protein (it is poorly absorbed by predators);
- absence of allergens: wheat, corn;
- natural antioxidants, preservatives, dyes, flavors.
By constantly eating ready-made dry food, the cat begins to drink more. Lack of moisture negatively affects the functioning of the digestive system and kidneys, so make sure that the animal has access to clean drinking water at a comfortable temperature.

Customer Reviews
Julia writes:
My dog is on a mixed diet, eats dry food in the morning and evening, and natural food for lunch. Pronature Original was tried as a puppy, 28 Small & Medium Puppy. At first he went well, but by the end of the package the puppy ate poorly. That's why I didn't buy any more.
Now about the food itself. The packaging is convenient with a zipper, there are different packaging options. The price is reasonable. Didn't cause any digestive problems, no allergies. But there are also disadvantages - it is difficult to find on sale, the composition is not ideal.
Regarding non-ideal composition, I mean chicken meal instead of meat, corn, corn gluten. And of course, the downside is that the dog stopped eating. In the end, I think this food is a good option, better than Pro Plan and Royal Canin.
*The photos above are not a direct illustration of the reviews presented in the review. The photo shows the old type of packaging; the food recently changed its packaging design.
Elena writes:
From a large number of different foods I chose this one. I liked that it is not greasy and the consumption is not high. My Chihuahua eats with appetite, her fur does not shed more than necessary, and the dog itself is active.
I read a lot of forums, everyone has different opinions about this food. For some, the composition is important, for others the price, but for me it’s both. I didn’t find anything wrong with Pronature in the original composition, although I’m not strong in it. The price is also not expensive.
But the most important thing is that my dog likes the food and is healthy. Therefore, I recommend trying this food.
Natalya writes:
I don’t have time to cook separately for the dog, so I feed it dry food. They already have a balanced composition with all the necessary vitamins and microelements. I buy Pronature original for medium breeds. Before this he took Brit Premium, but his dog ate less willingly and his stool was a little worse. Although it was more affordable financially.
A large bag lasts for a long time, and in terms of price, it is best to take large bags. The dog is healthy, the exit is excellent, there are no other problems. I advise you to pay attention to this brand of food.
Compound
Pronature Original contains the following components:
- chicken meal, lamb meal, fish meal;
- chicken and fish oil;
- chicken liver hydrolysate;
- brewer's rice, beet pulp, flax seed;
- yeast culture;
- thyme, rosemary, dried cranberries, yucca and chicory extract;

Flax seeds are a source of fiber and unsaturated fatty acids. Liver hydrolysate is a safe and attractive flavor additive for cats.
Kinds
Pronature products for purring pets are presented in two lines:
- PronatureOriginal;
- Pronature Holistic.
Pronature Original is a relatively budget-friendly dry food option, the composition of which is balanced and contains a complete cat diet. Reviews about this food are positive: pets eat it with appetite, they are cheerful and playful, their fur becomes thick and shiny.
Pronature Holistic dry food is even more rich in healthy ingredients. This is a real delicacy for cats. By and large, its composition is so natural that even a person could use Pronature Holistic components in food. Products marked Holistic have the highest category among dry food, and therefore cost more. Used mainly by professional breeders.
Both lines include food for kittens, adult cats and older cats.
Advantages and disadvantages
- Laboratory tests were carried out, which revealed the absence of dangerous intestinal bacteria such as salmonella, as well as toxin-forming anaerobes, mitotoxins and E. coli. The food contains no GMOs, antibiotics, pesticides, radionuclides, N-nitrosamines or heavy metals. No traces of foreign impurities (sawdust, including metal) or pest residues were also found. Benzoic acid (an approved preservative) is within normal limits.
- Manufacturers do not add soy, wheat and corn - the most stupid and allergenic components.
- Crude fiber, protein, fat, protein, carbohydrates and crude fat exactly as stated on the package.
- The food contains vitamins: A, E, B2, B3, B6, D.
- There are macro- and microelements: selenium, manganese, sodium, magnesium, potassium, iron, calcium, phosphorus, zinc), unsaturated and saturated fatty acids, amino acids.
- Manufacturers do not add dyes to their products.
- The composition contains plant components.
- This line of food can be easily purchased at any pet store or ordered online.
- The calcium percentage is too high. And an excess of it leads to irreversible nutritional hyperparathyroidism - a hormonal disorder reminiscent of rickets.
- There is no corn, but it does contain corn gluten meal. It is poorly absorbed and has no benefit (it is added to create volume and reduce the cost of the product).
- The price tag for food is not small, so not every animal owner can afford to buy this brand regularly.
- The choice is small.

Pros of Pronature food:
- Made in Canada, carefully tested for quality,
- affordable,
- presented in an assortment and has a branch for cats with diseases and age-related characteristics.
It will be interesting:
- reviews from veterinarians about Bozita cat food;
- reviews of Proplan dry food;
- what food is best for cats?
Minuses:
- the food contains yeast, tomato mixture and cellulose powder, which are not particularly beneficial to the animal;
- a rather high level of ash content, equal to 9%, with an acceptable normal level of 7%, which is why the cat may not immediately like the food, due to its taste that is not quite familiar to the animal.
Pronature cat food is professional grade. This super class food meets all the requirements for proper nutrition for cats and, as reviews of Pronature cat food say, cats feel great when taking it. They eat dry food from this brand with pleasure, preferring it to many others; their general condition is excellent, as is their appearance; chair without any changes.
However, you will be able to find out whether it is worth giving it to your pet some time after you start using it. You should not rely only on reviews of Pronature cat food; it is important to observe the cat. And only after making sure of the normal effect on the cat can you choose this food as the main one.
What does the Pronature Life Cat Fit packaging tell us?
The design of the package focuses on a healthy lifestyle: there is a photo of an athletic woman on a bicycle with a cat in the basket. The associative series suggests that the cat is somehow involved in the active life of its owner. However, of course, everyone knows that cats don’t ride bicycles on their own.
The red maple leaf and the word Canada at the top of the bag indicate the country of origin of the food. The manufacturer emphasizes that the product does not contain corn, soy or wheat: the inscription No corn, soy or wheat tells us this.
Healthy Ingredients
Taurine is an amino acid, a building element of animal proteins. It is vital for cats. However, adding it to the diet as a separate component is an indicator of the low quality of the protein components of the diet or their insufficient quantity.
Since they cannot provide the animal’s body with the necessary amount of taurine, the manufacturer has to add it additionally, balancing the composition of the feed according to amino acids.
Yeast culture and yeast (of unknown origin) serve as a source of B vitamins, but it is difficult to assess their quality. Chicory extract (a source of inulin) promotes intestinal health and normalizes the balance of good and bad intestinal bacteria.
Yucca Schidigera extract reduces fecal odor. But the composition of the natural flavoring is not indicated - this ingredient does not inspire confidence.
Lecithin is a special phospholipid. It ensures healthy skin and coat, helps protect the liver and heart, and converts hard-to-digest fats into easily digestible ones. Lecithin is also added to food to better mix fat components, form granules and reduce the risk of mold formation - in this case, it is more of a technological additive than a component beneficial to the health of the pet.
Pronature Original 28 Cat Adult Chicken also contains dried berries and seasonings: dried cranberries, dried rosemary and dried thyme. They are listed at the end of the ingredients list, so there must be a small amount of them in the composition. In addition, it is unknown how many valuable vitamins, micro- and macroelements are stored in ready-made dry food granules.
It also contains a variety of vitamin and mineral supplements. They are necessary partly due to the lack of minerals and vitamins in the raw materials, partly due to the peculiarities of the technological process for the production of dry food (this is the industry norm, and therefore is not a direct indicator of high or low quality of the diet).
Pronature Life Cat Fit Foundation Analysis
Let's move on to a description of the composition of Pronature Life Cat Fit Deboned Chicken food. The basis here is made up of two meat ingredients, legumes, cereals and an animal source of fat.
Boneless chicken, advertised in the name of the food, is given only fourth place. It is indicated that its share is only 8.5%, and this makes this component only an additional protein supplement. You should not think that only chicken fillet was used to create the food: as an analysis of Pronature Life Cat Fit food shows, the No. 1 place in the composition belongs to chicken meal - Chicken Meal. In Russian, the word “meat” was added to its name, although the English term does not imply this: chicken meal can be made from any leftover chicken, for example, backs, skin, bones.
In second place in the list of ingredients are peas, followed by oatmeal - Oatmeal, which was translated into Russian as “oats”. Chicken fat closes the top five ingredients.
Fit
This food is intended for cats with reduced activity levels, those that have undergone neutering, and animals that require weight control.
In first place we have chicken flour . A product that has gone through the rendering process can be a decent and highly concentrated source of animal protein. Of course, provided that the raw materials for this component were of high quality. It is obvious here that whole chicken carcasses and/or their parts were used, so most likely everything is in order with the raw materials. It’s only a pity that in the first place is a highly processed product; this may indicate that the amino acids and other beneficial substances present in this food were added in an already isolated form.
Next came the carbohydrate component - plant ingredients in the second and third places in the composition indicate that there are quite a lot of carbohydrates in the food, which a priori reduces its rating. Peas , of course, are better than corn or wheat, they are a source of vegetable protein and fiber, but in large quantities they are harmful to cats, whose diet should be based on animal products.
Although oatmeal
The next component of fairly high quality is boneless chicken , probably frozen. It would be much better if it was located in the top three components, but it is what it is.
Chicken fat preserved with a mixture of tocopherols is a high-quality source of fatty acids, protected from oxidation by natural preservatives. Contains a lot of linoleic acid, which is extremely important for the good condition of the cat's skin and coat.
Hulled barley is another grain that is nutritious and low-glycemic... and not healthy for cats. Of course, barley is better than millet and corn, but given that peas and oats are in second and third place in the list of ingredients, barley does not add any attractiveness to the composition.
Dried beet pulp is the pulp left over after the sugar is extracted. Oddly enough, it is not sweet at all and is only indigestible plant fiber. They act as a “transit passenger”: they pass through the cat’s gastrointestinal tract, gently stimulating peristalsis and ensuring high-quality and regular bowel movements.
Sun-dried alfalfa is another legume. A cheap fodder plant, often used in feed for farm animals. The downside of alfalfa is that it contains phytoestrogens, which can lead to endocrine disruption, and saponins, which interfere with the absorption of nutrients.
Next comes the natural flavoring , which probably means digest - a concentrated extract from various animal tissues obtained by hydrolysis. The problem is that we do not know from what raw materials this component is obtained. As a rule, it is not of particularly high quality, and despite its natural origin, it is impossible to rate this component highly.
Next comes the phospholipid lecithin - it helps restore the integrity of the body's cells, and also performs the task of an emulsifier, that is, a binder. Lecithin is found in fatty meat and fish products, but is much more often obtained from soybeans.
Pea fiber gently stimulates the intestinal walls and is no different in function from beet pulp.
Herring fat is a good fat component, rich in unsaturated fatty acids.
Next comes salt , added as a flavor enhancer, and a number of biologically active substances, which we will not consider in detail. You can see a list of medicinal plants like kelp, sage, parsley, green tea, etc. - these ingredients, of course, have positive properties, but they have clearly lost some of them during the drying process. In addition, judging by the location in the composition, these ingredients are added literally a pinch at a time, so they are unlikely to have any significant effect on the animal’s body.
When assessing the composition, you should first of all pay attention to the first five ingredients; they are the most in the food.
Our verdict
What can you say about these foods? Let's start with the good stuff:
- attractive packaging design;
- the food is suitable for cats at any stage of life;
- Contains no soy, wheat, or corn;
- sufficiently high-quality sources of animal protein and animal fats.
Now let's talk about the disadvantages:
- the percentage of components is not indicated;
- a large amount of carbohydrates against the background of a modest content of meat products;
- Some meat components (chicken and boneless salmon), contrary to the manufacturer’s statement on the official website about their freshness, are not fresh, since the term fresh is not included in the composition. Most likely, these are just raw ingredients that have been thawed and/or treated with preservatives.
On the one hand, this is not the worst product that we reviewed on our website, on the other hand, the composition is completely unimpressive. We would recommend purchasing this food only if there is no better alternative.
Features of the food
The word Fit in the name of the food suggests that it is either intended for active pets, or, on the contrary, contains a moderate amount of fat and helps those cats who are prone to obesity. There is no clear information on this topic on the package. I had to turn to the official distributor's website for clarification. It turned out that the second version is correct - according to the distributor, this product helps maintain normal weight and is also suitable for pets with a low activity level, castrated cats and sterilized cats. The fat content in this diet is, indeed, relatively low and amounts to 14%, while in another product of the same line for cats, for example, it is 18% fat.
In the “Nutrients” section on the package, we came across the concept of “inorganic matter” - this is the same as ash, which is familiar to most, this is just how the literal translation of inorganic matter from English sounds.
