Better design, less fat
Packaging design has certainly changed for the better. Now a beautiful purebred cat is looking at us from the package with a soulful gaze - the photo of the animal has become larger and looks better than on the old packaging.
The package indicates that it will help control the weight of cats after sterilization and castration. In fact, it simply has a relatively low fat content - 12% (in the previous version of the food it was 14.5%) and contains L-carnitine. This substance is often added to foods labeled “after sterilization,” as it is believed to speed up metabolism and prevent excess fat deposits.
Perfect Fit Cat Sterile: composition characteristics
As before, the composition of Perfect Fit Cat Sterile food is indicated only in Russian. Previously, two animal protein concentrates were used as the basis of feed, including those from chicken and other birds of unknown species, and two types of cereals in combination with vegetable protein isolated from grain. The picture has remained virtually unchanged with the updated composition.
Only now the first place on the list is occupied by a component called “poultry flour (including 20% chicken”), and the second place is occupied by animal flour. The characteristics of these components of Perfect Fit Cat food for sterilized cats leave much to be desired.
It is still impossible to say exactly what is included in these dried mixtures. The sources of raw materials for them may vary from one batch of feed to another, so we are against such vague ingredients - the consistency of the formula of the feed from one batch to another when using them is very doubtful.
Reviews from veterinarians
My opinion, as a veterinarian, is that you should not buy cheap food for your pet. Many people contact me who bring their pets with various diseases of the liver, kidneys and stomach. All these diseases are caused precisely by the fact that cats are fed inexpensive dry food.
Valentina, 3 years experience
I have been working as a veterinarian for 10 years. In principle, I think that Perfect Fit food is not the worst that is presented on our market. The quality matches the price. But there are also economy-class feeds that cause much more harm to animals.
Mikhail, 10 years experience
It is best to feed cats natural foods. Cottage cheese, chicken, fish, cereals will help balance the diet of your animals. If you still want to use store-bought food, then give it to your pets not all the time. You can also use Perfect Fit, but read the information about other foods, preferably premium ones.
Svetlana, 7 years experience
Before you buy Perfect Fit food for your pet, read all the reviews about it, but not on the official website. Also be sure to consult your veterinarian. Research other cat foods on the market. You should have an alternative to purchase other products if your pet does not like Perfect Fit.
Unwanted Components
The label “with chicken” and the silhouette of this bird on the front of the package look enticing, but judging by the list of ingredients, the food contains more than just chicken. The same applies to the schematic image of “5 components of health” on the back of the pack, among which we find the following message: “Chicken and rice for healthy digestion - high-quality protein and rice for easy digestion and optimal digestion.”
If the dry food “Perfect Fit Steril” consisted only of chicken and rice, it would be great, but, unfortunately, the diet includes a lot of other sources of animal and vegetable protein and carbohydrates, among which there are not at all desirable and unclear ingredients.
So, in second place is wheat, and in third place is corn flour, sources of carbohydrates and vegetable protein, which do little to meet the needs of cats as predators, and they certainly have no place in diets for sterilized animals. Place number 4 is occupied by soy protein concentrate - this is a vegetable protein isolated from soybeans.
Marketing techniques
If you look carefully at the product label, which is what we did when compiling an analysis of Perfect Fit Cat Sterile food, two ingredient splits emerge immediately. As a rule, the method of separating derivatives of one type of plant material is used to be able to save on meat ingredients by adding plant sources of protein, and at the same time shift the latter further from the beginning of the list so as not to focus the attention of consumers on them.
First split: corn flour (No. 3) and corn protein concentrate (No. 8) - the same corn gluten that we found in the previous formula of this diet. Second split: soy protein concentrate (No. 4) and soy flour (No. 7). In addition, we also found rice in the ingredients list - as if corn and soybeans weren’t enough. True, there is relatively little rice here - it is listed only in 9th place in the list of ingredients.
Since the exact proportions of components in the diet, as before, are not indicated, the real “dosage” of protein from cereals and legumes in the Perfect Fit Cat Sterile food may well turn out to be even greater than the protein from meat components, and cats are carnivores, and they want meat, not soy and corn.
The source of animal fat in the diet was and remains unknown and is simply called “animal fat”, without specification, which allows the use of different raw materials in different batches of feed. As before, vegetable oil, aptly named sunflower oil, has been added to the food, but fish oil can no longer be found in the new composition.
Range
The manufacturing company produces several product lines that are suitable for children and adults, for lazy and active animals, cats with sensitive digestion.
For sterilized cats and neutered cats (of any age), the manufacturer offers Sterile dry and wet food with chicken and beef flavors. It contains a sufficient amount of vitamin B, as well as: retinol, zinc, copper, iron, manganese, calcium, biotin, riboflavin, thiamine, ascorbic acid, tocopherol, cholecalciferol.
Dry food for older pets - Senior. Vitamins that support activity are not needed at this age: older cats have other problems. These include joint pathologies, heart and kidney diseases, and deterioration of the coat. First of all, such cats need the amino acid taurine (it supports cardiac activity), glucosamine and Omega-3 acids (which help joints).
Lazy animals that lead a sedentary lifestyle quickly gain excess weight and often suffer from obesity. And obesity, as everyone knows, leads to a huge number of problems. Therefore, if your cat likes to sleep a lot and prefers to sit rather than run, do not overfeed him under any circumstances, and keep in mind that the ratio of carbohydrates, fats and proteins should be different than for nimble and fast cats.
For such beds, 2 food options have been developed: “Indoor” and “Inform”. In the first, the percentage of elements is as follows: 38% - proteins, 12% - fats, 3.9% - fiber. The latter gives a boost to the gastrointestinal tract, speeds up metabolism, and prevents hair from accumulating in the stomach. Omega acids and biotin support metabolism, and evergreen yucca extract makes the smell of cat feces less harsh and less unpleasant.
The second option is suitable for animals that have already exceeded their weight limit. The food contains levocarnitine, which promotes the breakdown of fats in the body.
For individuals with sensitive digestion, pathologies of the kidneys, liver, and food allergies, the Sensitive food was created. It does not contain soy, wheat, or chicken, but contains turkey and natural plant ingredients. The food is available both in dry form and in the form of wet canned food. Prebiotics are added to canned food (to maintain the natural intestinal microflora). The percentage of protein in the feed is 8%, fat is 5.6%, fiber is 0.5%.

In 2010, she graduated from the Moscow State Academy of Veterinary Medicine named after K.I. Scriabin with honors, specializing in veterinary medicine. I regularly attend veterinary conferences, congresses, and webinars.
This type of food should not be given independently without first consulting a veterinarian. The brand and type of food should be selected only by a doctor after examining the animal and studying its tests.
The growing body of kittens requires more nutrients, vitamins and minerals. For babies up to 6 months of age, the Junior series was developed.
It contains a lot of calcium, phosphorus, taurine, tocopherol, levocarnitine and other elements so necessary for building musculoskeletal tissue, improving metabolism and other important processes. The calorie content of the feed is 41%, fat content is 18%.
For adult cats that move a lot, Active is perfect - a food with a lot of protein and vitamins A and E, iron, and riboflavin. It replenishes the deficiency of useful micro- and macroelements. There are 2 types of food: dry and canned. There are also 2 flavors: beef and chicken flavored food. It contains 41% protein, 2.5% fiber.
Description of Perfect Fit Cat Sterile food additives
The flavoring component in the diet is hydrolyzed animal origin. The manufacturer does not disclose what raw materials it is obtained from. In the previous version of the diet, a slightly higher quality component was indicated as a flavoring - dried liver.
As a source of fiber, this feed, as before, adds a completely traditional component for the industry - dried sugar beet pulp, but now it is supplemented with chicory extract - a source of the prebiotic inulin, which is beneficial for intestinal microflora.
The diet also contains L-carnitine, a standard component of most diets for cats that require weight control. However, against the backdrop of such an abundance of carbohydrate sources, doubt arises about the effectiveness of this supplement.
The composition of the vitamin-mineral premix is deciphered in sufficient detail on the label, but the manufacturer was silent about the method of preserving the diet. We can only be content with the inscription on the packaging: “Does not contain flavors, colors or preservatives,” which also raises questions. Without canning, dry food will not be preserved throughout its shelf life, so it is impossible to do without preservatives at all.

Rating of Perfect Fit Cat Sterile food
The purpose of rebranding is often to improve the quality of the product, but comparing Perfect Fit Cat Sterile food in its previous and current version, unfortunately, does not give cause for joy. We see in the composition as many as two splits - soy and corn, many ingredients named in general words (poultry flour, animal flour, animal fat, animal hydrolysate).
The pros and cons of Perfect Fit Cat Sterile food are obvious: on the one hand, the addition of meat flour instead of isolated animal proteins, on the other hand, the use of low-quality animal ingredients and a significant amount of plant protein sources. The rating of Perfect Fit Cat Sterile food has not changed much, the previous formula scored 10 points, the current one - 17.
Review of Perfect Fit food
Perfect Fit is produced by the well-known company, which produces popular economy class products - Whiskas. Many professionals say that Perfect Fit products, although slightly better than Whiskas, are not up to par with premium food. These reviews apply to both dry and wet food.
has been producing products for cats for several decades, this company operates internationally. Perfect Fit is translated from English as “perfect fit” . In principle, the quality of such products for cats is not at the lowest level, but also very far from ideal.
All Perfect Fit cat food products are packaged in bright packs that attract the attention of buyers. But what is important for the consumer is not the packaging, but the composition and quality of the product.
Not one of the Mars branded foods does not contain natural meat, but in premium foods, although in small quantities, it is present. Perfect Fit contains dehydrated poultry protein, with 31% chicken protein . Consumers may think that the food consists of 31% poultry meat, but this is not true. Here, only some individual pieces of leftover chicken are used, for example, fat, cartilage, bone meal, etc. Good premium foods use dehydrated meat rather than protein.
Example of feed composition
Here is an example of the composition of Junior Perfect Fit kitten food. Here's what it says on the box: dehydrated poultry protein (including 31% chicken), corn protein, animal fat, corn meal, corn, dried liver, wheat breakdown products, potassium chloride, cellulose, rice (at least 4%), dried cereal protein, salt.
If you read the information about this food on the manufacturer’s official website, it immediately becomes clear that this is an absolutely ideal food for kittens. The company positions its products as optimally balanced feed in its composition . You shouldn't believe this. First of all, study the information about the composition of other foods, for example, Berkley or NOW Fresh.
Perfect Fit manufacturers have carefully developed the composition of their products. They claim that for cats their products are absolutely balanced in terms of the presence of vitamins and minerals that animals need. Again, do not forget that this is just a marketing ploy and in order to get proper nutrition, you should not completely switch your pet to Perfect Fit products.
Advantages and disadvantages of Perfect Fit food
